Heartwarming, captivating fun for all in our family

I saw Rise of the Guardians in 3-D with our extended family over the holidays. We had teens, young adults, middle agers, and a senior grandma too. We all loved the movie! The acting, writing, graphic design, humor, pace -- it all was terrific. We were also so happy that there was no crude humor - what a nice surprise. I want to see this movie again over Christmas and bring nephews with me. This movie is gem. Don't miss it. I especially recommend 3-D -- there are no over the top parts or anything to make an older person dizzy -- it is just fun and beautiful.

    Holiday Family Movie

A nice engaging holiday season family film. The movie was action packed & keeps you excited throughout. There is some muted violence. My wife & I watched the film with many families, teens, & couples.

    it was ok

the movie is visually stunning, particularly the color.

santa as a tough russian with a heart of gold was an interesting hyper-masculine twist, though the tattoos were over the top, and i thought an inappropriate message for santa to give to kids. but perhaps that's just my anti-tattoo bias.

the story line was good, though it seemed to drag at times. it didn't engage me as much as the promotions did. i still am not sure what the tooth fairy represented. santa is wonder, the bunny is hope, the sandman is presumably dreams (though unlike santa and bunny he was not clearly articulated), and the tooth fairy? was she memory or innocence or what, just not sure at all. the voice of the boogey man sounded just like that chef from "hell's kitchen".

my son "liked it" but couldn't tell me much about it shortly after we left the theater. so i think its a decent xmas movie, not the greatest, but good,. again, as a visual experience it was stunning.

    good, BUT...

    The movie was cute except:
    (1) the movie starts with Jack Frost waking up in what appears to be an iced-over pond- he acts like he has amnesia and doesn't know who he is or why he is there- it's confusing & a bit odd
    (2) then, Jack Frost makes it clear that he wants to know where he came from
    (3) the most disturbing part of this odd theme is when they show Jack Frost having flashbacks of being a normal kid, taking his younger sister out to skate on a pond- the ice starts to crack and she freaks out-he tells her she will be ok-then he saves her, but HE falls in- it shows him sinking to the bottom, then the scene changes to show him now as Jack Frost-this is so morbid, scary, grotesque, and highly inappropriate for a kids movie. I am an adult and I found it scary. If I saw that as a child, I'd be traumatized.

    Surprisingly Enjoyable

Based on the plot, I didn't expect to like this movie very much; I didn't think we needed any more movies dealing with desperation for people to "just believe". However, my family and I found it quite enjoyable. The animation and visual imagery are wonderful; the characters and voices are very entertaining; and it entices a great mix of emotions -- laughing, tears, and just plain fun. I didn't see anything that I would find inappropriate for small children, and yet it's done in a way that's still enjoyable for teens and young adults. If you're looking for an enjoyable way to spend time with your family, this is a great option.

    Cute Fun for the Family

    by imara90

This movie was fun, colorful and Hugh Jackman as a grumpy rabbit makes me smile. This movie doesn't necessarily tug on your heart strings as some excellent children's movies do but it still satisfies. I watched this movie in 3D and I appreciated the feeling of snow falling on my face.

    Perfect!

    by

I absolutely loved Rise of the Guardians. From the beginning of the film with the Dreamworks Moon introduction to the last credit, the thought, character development, graphics and story are spot on!

It is refreshing to see a movie that embraces our traditions but ingeniously evolved the depth of these stories. There are too many movies that come out and jump on the band wagon of being an animated movie that figures they will make the big box office bucks just because it's animated.....

this film deserves to have big box office success and favor.

I love when you see a movie and it surprises you with the way they see a world or a character and it's brilliant; something you can easily accept but didn't see that was right there for you to get.

The story line and humor are excellent and this is a great film for the holidays or anytime you want to sit back and have a blast!

GO SEE IT! You will thank me later....

Best movie I've seen in a while...

This movie was awesome! The plot was very creative and the characters were hilarious and cute at the same time. It was very exciting to watch, and I recommend anyone to go see it---whether you have kids or not (I don't).

    Rise Of The Guardians

I was a little unsure how a strange beginning would coalesce into a coherent movie, but it happened. The animation was wonderful, the characters interesting but the story became a bit too Hollywood. All told a very fine movie worth seeing again. My children, my wife and I all agreed that Rise of the Guardians was wonderful. Entertainment for the whole family.

    child-reliving

i thought this movie was really nice i liked how they used jack frost as a human. It has some tear jerking parts but i thought it was amazingly done. funny at parts but a nice family movie to relive your childhood and the mysteries of the invisible "guardians" .

    Rise of Guardians is great

The best part about this is that it brings back all the characters from us parents' childhood - jack frost, the boogey man or is it bogey man??? I don't think a lot of our grand children and some of our children hear about jack Frost or the Boogey/Bogey man anymore. It's put together very well and is really cute. I don't know that I would take kids younger than 4 to the show, I guess it would depend on how afraid they are of certain things. The Boogey Man character is a little distressing. Jack Frost is adorable - Santa has a russian accent - different for us here in my household, the tooth fairy is adorable and they have a new thought about what happens with the teeth that they pick up from the children. They all come around to help each other get things put right and it's really cute. I will probably buy this one for my home library.

    Guardians

Took my two boys to see Rise of the Guardians. We really enjoyed the movie. It was very cute and had some funny parts. We would go and see it again. Really cute when EB turned to a tiny bunny and thought he was tough. It was sad when we thought Sandy was taken away but in the end he returned and we all started shouting.

    What a great movie!

Beautiful animation, great characters with strong personalities, the movie flows easily with the impending doom of the bogey man taking over children's minds and filling them with nightmares.... That is when the Guardians must rise and protect the innocence and wonderment of children....

Jack Frost trying to find his identity is the other subject of the movie, Jack Frost who many children do not know of and therefore can't see.

My favorite character was the Sandman. What a delightful little character with its golden sand that makes everything look so beautiful and.... dreamy...

The plot keeps thickening until the climax of the end, a climax that's left to the children who can finally recapture their dreams and beliefs.
