    WOW!!!!!

We have seen every Star Trek movie and TV episode over the years. No, we aren't exactly 'Trekkies', but do love Star Trek and are big fans. This movie was so cleverly written (i.e. the inclusion of the Tribbles) and reminiscent of the history of S.T. The acting was terrific! And, of course, spectacular special effects. In 3-D it was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed S.T. and if you are an old fan, you will definitely love the movie. If you aren't and old fan, you will most likely enjoy the movie just as much.

JJ Abrams & Company Did it Again

    by

And when I say: "did it again", I mean hit it out of the park. No spoilers here, but this 2nd movie is a giant leap for this new rebooted series. I'll just say that everybody in the cast & crew does a great job, & many of the regulars get more to do. For geek & fans, there are all kinds of Easter eggs, quotes, & "harmonic resonances" with the classic Star Trek series & even a few references to other science-fiction & genre literature/media. Keep an eye out. You'll know it when you see it. I'm a fan of the original series (grew up in the 60s watching it), and I thought this did justice to the original and then some. Paid tribute, but still had fun. Great fight scenes. Especially the last one. 2 go in...well, see for yourself. A great musical score.Fandango asks, "did you laugh, cry, etc.". Well, I laughed, I cried, I had a great time. Exciting, emotional, and still makes you think as well as feel . I was not bored for a second. A roller coaster in more ways than one.

a treat for fans and newbies alike!

This may well be the best Star Trek movie of them all. It had edge of your seat excitement, thrilling plots and subplots, homages to previous movies, and even a nod to one of my favorite Trek novels! Chris Pine as Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock still thrill with their new interpretations of these iconic characters, and Karl Urban channels DeForest Kelley in ways that are almost frightening. This is THE blockbuster of the summer. Not sure if you should go? Let me decide for you. As a fan from the beginning of the Original Series, I have one word for you: GO!

    LOVED IT

    by vstilt

Loved it. The story, the characters, everything. Love how it is respectful to somewhat staying true to the original Star Trek as well. I LOVED the first one and I loved this one even more. And the casting? PERFECT.

Excellent Special effects & character interaction - tired plot

20 members of the Baltimore Science Fiction Society (home of Balticon, Maryland' s longest running Regional SF/Fantasy convention) went to see the film.
    General consus:
All the actors were excellent in their roles...Lots of comic relief from Bones and Scotty

Amazing Special effects..too bad they weren't attached to a better script.

Ultimately, Science Fiction is about ideas and Star Trek into Darkness recycled a tired plot that lacked motivation.

This could have been a great movie. Still glad we went to see it. Rate it B+.

What a 'WOW'! (No spoilers here)

You must see this! Trekkies from the '60's & 70's will have a wonderful, incredible, marvelous time hearing things that hit your ear perfectly. I wish I could tell you without ruining the movie. Old things are made new again, & you are going to love it. New fans will be happily drawn into the world. The character development of the main players, & even some minor folks, is excellent. We get to watch Jim, Spock, Uhura & even the villain to grow and expand. It is marvelous. Marvelous! Wait until you see it!

For 12 & up, with perhaps more implied sex than parents will appreciate in spots. However, those are fleeting, unnecessary & wasted.

The cinematography actually seems to take things to another level. It is so hard to describe. The use of darkness versus light was a subtle undertone to the picture. Many sci-fi works are based in darkness; even daylight is dark. Not so in this movie. Several scenes envelop you in light, then plunge into darkness. See this!

    Into a fun summer movie

It's probably not going to win a lot of awards, but Star Trek: Into Darkness delivers as a crowd-pleasing sci-fi summer hit. It features a great cast and a script with some well-timed humor. Great movie for all ages too. Check it out.

Love, love LOVE this movie. Pure Star Trek fun and adventure.

I am heading back to the theater tonight to see this again. First time I have ever paid to see a movie twice in my life. I thought the first Star Trek was awesome, but this is better because it has the first to back it up. True to the original series with similar rhythm, banter and camp - it just ROCKS! So excited to see it again tonight! Woohoo

    Great film/Good experience

    by

Awesome film. Do not fall for AMC's fake iMAX BS, however. If you pay an extra $6, make sure you're at a real iMAX screen... real iMAX screens only hold a few seats, vs the minorly larger screen they pass off as iMAX to make a profit of you

    Incredible!!!

This was a terrific film on every level. If you are the fan of the franchise, you will love it. If you love action movies with special effects, you will love it, if you like a good story with twists turns and surprises - you will love it.

You will love this movie. See it.....and don't delay.

    Meh.

As I am not a long running Star Trek fan maybe I am not the best to give opinion on this new addition to the universe, but I still feel the need to give my say about Into Darkness o its own merits as a movie, and nothing else, And in its own merits, this movie was overblown, stupid, and all around unfocused on what it wanted to be. Did it want to be classic star trek, meaning a bunch of dudes and aliens just talking about galactic political matters and how the engine just got a tribble caught in the turbine? Or does it want to be more like its predecessor, an action focused adventure that rips apart the the charismatic characters from the classics and replaces them with action heroes? The movie can't decide. Other problems include J.J. Abrams trying to do "fan service" when he doesn't even really know what he's talking about. (seriously, I only watched a few of the movies and I know more about this than he does), a badly written script, poor cinematography, and dumb side plots. Meh.

    Honors its precedessors

This movie pays homage to the original TV series as well as Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan perfectly! Comes very close to being corny in that homage, but does not cross the corny line, as well as the new cast putting their own spin on the past and making it their own. Fabulous movie, better than the last one!

Reboot fully initialized, ready to go!

The new Star Trek movie completes the reboot phase, this franchise is ready to go where no Star Trek has gone before. The movie has action galore, you don't need to be a fan to love it. Add plenty of hooks for those that are past fans of the series and this is a must see for anyone who likes to have fun at the movies!
