not bad....

very little of actual "battleship" game play in the movie. main character acting isn't as great, but Brooklyn Decker is HOT!!! Liam Neeson doesn't have a lot of weight in the movie. but definitely all the action scenes were great! especially the "drift" by USS Missouri using its anchor!
i thought it was worth to go see it!

Awesome Special Effects

The movie was very predictable but even with that said I went back with my wife to see it a second time! It was her first but she loved it as well!! Go see it, you will be glad you did!! Just don't expect any surprises. This is a "cleaner than most" movie that kids can watch!

Best action and most entertaining movie of the year, so far. Sure there's nonsense, but for goodness sake, this is a sci-fi , explosive action movie that never fails to entertain. As good or better than the old Saturday matinees. May see it again at the movies and will definitely buy when out on Bluray. Outstanding special effects! Only people without imagination, who don't want to have fun and who can't let their hair down for two hours would find it boring. So let them watch a blank screen somewhere else and be happy. 11 out of 10 stars!!!!!

Kinda like Independence Day minus Will Smith

I went into the movie with low expectations. The previews made me think it was going to be another formulaic action/alien film but I was pleasantly surprised. The characters were developed but there was not much back story. Somehow, despite the lack of description, I actually cared about the characters. This movie has one specific part which is very touching, anyone who knows someone or who has served in the military would be proud. Overall, I would definitely suggest seeing it.

About what was expected...

I had low expectations going into it, so I wasn't disappointed. It was funny at times, but it was an extremely predictable movie. Head into see it if you're a fan of sweet special effects and some comedy. Those were really the only parts of the movie worth any note. The emotional scenes lacked any punch whatsoever, but there are a few bad*** moments and Liam Neeson was great in his small role.

Also: There was a clip at the end of the movie after the credits. In a packed theater - myself and my friend were the only ones that stayed and saw it!

So if you do go, stick around for the clip. :)

The story line is actually weak. Aliens come after a transsmisin is sent to outer space. We have heard this one before. Independence Day all over except with ships. The action is what makes this movie if you justify that. They put their best actor Liam Neeson and put him on the back burner. If your looking for a movie with good acting and a good story this not not the one for you. Wait for it on DVD. If you're looking for an action packed movie with excellent effects this is the one.

I think if the they gave Liam Neeson a bigger role it is possible this movie could have been better. The acting is not super horrible, but it is not the best.

I will say if I respect what they did with Navy Vets in this movie. That was super and nicely done go USA.

Hooooorrrrrraaaaa!

I enjoyed this movie.. I'm partial to the Navy, and love a man in uniform! Well worth matinee price. Lots of fun with the explosions, handsome sailors, and aliens. Perfect for my 15 year old son.

Enjoyable

Ok, so I read some of the negative reviews and thought I should skip this movie but I'm glad I didn't. Yes, it was predictable, yes there were points that I could have lived without, but I really liked the movie. I won't give anything away but I left the theater with a smile and I didn't regret spending the money on the movie and that is really my hope with ticket prices what they are now. If someone asked me to see it again, I'd actually go...and that's saying something.

Awesome movie, wasnt quite sure was gonna like it but am so glad i went. Not your run of the mill aliens taking over the planet movie. Visuals and special effects best i've seen in a long time

Really Presently Surprised !

For a 65 year old guy, I really enjoyed the movie, Battleship. It had a beginning with a middle and end... where the guy still gets the girl in the End, in spite of what just happened. The special effects were good and compared to many of the 50s style movies I have seen.... this was not bad. It even had some good humor in it at the right moments which brings you down. This tells me who wrote this story, knew how to write a script for the screen as compared to many of the movies I see which has very little middle and you wonder why did I spend my money to come into this show. I was thoroughly Entertained and I feel you will be as well. So, have a fun evening as the 2 hours went by very quickly... it DID NOT drag!

Suprised!

All the previews showed was a shoot 'em up contest between to foes. The actual movie had way more depth. The special effects were awesome but still the side show to the drama on screen. This movie was such a welcoming surprise.

Being a member of the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club I knew it would be right up my alley.
Lots of binga-dabang but very new bangers. The imagination is a wonderful thing.
It can go places where no man has ever been. The movie is plum reeeeediculous,
but there was very good acting by everyone in this less than A+ movie.
My wife had said she knew of a movie that I would like. Yep. I served aboard a ship
like one of those shown......the big one. I built one similar to it.....okay, helped build it.
It ain't no chick flick guys. Go see it......not expecting......get some popcorn.....a bucket.
Dad, the boys will enjoy this one.
