    Best Spiderman Movie to Date

This movie hit all the small and large things, that to me, make a great super hero movie. It does miss the bulls eye on some things but for the most part it is spot on. The focus on him being agile over strong is very much appreciated. The plot was very well written, if a bit translucent, and the story it tells is gripping and very well played out from start to finish. The acting was great except for the over exaggeration of Peter Parker's awkwardness. It came off as forced some times and didn't really hit it right but this is just a minor complaint in an overall great movie. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who wanted a great super hero film.

    Pretty Good!

Andrew Garfield is perfectly cast for Peter Parker ? along with Martin Sheen, Emma Stone and Dennis Leary. Overall, the acting felt a lot more authentic and realistic than the Tobey Maguire versions. The title of this review is "Pretty Good" and not "Great" because in some cases the movie is geared a little more towards kids than the adults that grew up reading the comic books. I would have loved it if it were darker, like the Christopher Nolan of Batman. I also wish they depicted The Lizard the way Todd MacFarlane used to draw him; more daunting with giant brows and larger fangs, and less humanoid. The slow motion web slinging poses of CG Spider-Man along with Garfield's mannerisms in the suit are spot on and look like pages right out of the comic books. They finally got those right! Stick around for hidden clips after the credits, though they really confused me.

    A Must See

    by

I immensely enjoyed the The Amazing Spider-Man. However, it appeared to me, that it took forever to establish the main characters and plot. Once that was out of the way, the action and special effects were phenomenal.

Just another average superhero movie, very disappointed

Well saw Amazing Spider-Man (Spider-Man Begins) and I liked it and didn't like it. I thought Andrew Garfield really did play a good Spider-Man though. There were some really cool parts I liked a lot, some parts that just dragged on and some really corny ones. I thought the story could've been better, it felt very paint by the numbers and some scenes rushed. The Uncle Ben death scene was HORRIBLY done. The Lizard was just a rehash of. Dr Octopus. The crane scene was really cringeworthy, cheesy and unnecessary. The musical score was terrible too, it's no Danny Elfman. The after credits scene was really bad...who was that other guy suposed to be? I hope they have a better story and a new director for the sequel. Spider-Man 1 & 2 are still the best Spidey movies

    The Amazing Spider-Man

Honestly it's not as good as I was hoping it would be. Storyline was very much predictable. I've seen better special effects and the acting was "just OK". I really wanted it to be "BIGGER".

    Plenty of angst

    by JimJabu

Superhero films usually require lots of teenage angst and great special effects, preferably the kind we haven't seen before. This new Spiderman movie has got great angst, but I'm afraid the special effects have been done before. Also disappointing is the villain who isn't all that worrisome. But if you're a fan of these types of filmns, you'll enjoy this one.

Caution - the first hour of this film is completely back story, so be prepared.

    Some good and some bad

I did like the special effects and I believe that Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker) and Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) did a better job in their respective roles (Emma better than Kirsten - Not an EXACT role but the same, essentially) than their predecessors.

The story was weaker as you can tell they wanted to completely redo and rewrite the story without using the same characters as the first Spider-man trilogy.

There is a very cheesy seen with cranes and "helping Spidey reach his goal" toward the end that made me role my eyes.

Overall, I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

If you are not a comic book fan and go in with little in the way of expectations, then you will enjoy the movie.

    PROS:
    Better Special FX
    Better acting from principle characters

    CONS:
    Weak plot
    Weak score
    Cheesy in a few scenes

I would not pay to see this movie again as I would "The Avengers" or "Iron-Man".

    Great movie

Over all this movie was great. Kids loved and thats what matters most. Ive heard critics comparing it to the original and yes they are very similar plot wise. I think this one however is much better with the grafics and is more realistic to me. The most important aspect though is the kids realy enjoyed it. Stan Lee makes his usual cameo. The acting is good I like that some big names were in this one. We cant wait to see what comes next.

    Different arc, same-ish story

    by

So I went in to this knowing little things, different Spidey, bye bye MJ, hello Gwen, etc. so I figured the movie would play out a little different but honestly I felt it was pretty much the same as the first 3. It had it's highlights, sure, but I think this is a decent movie that wants its CGI to make it great to cover up flaws. It was a semi-interesting direction but honestly, Garfield as as Parker made him/Spiderman come off as kind of a ****. Also, the script/writing seemed to leave a lot to be desired. There were a couple points in the movie though where both my date and I were looking at each other asking "really? even in a superhero movie, that was just dumb" It picked up a little towards the end for me but ultimately, the movie as a whole comes off as a "meh" for me. I definitely could've waited for the DVD release.

    Spidey's Awesome

Really enjoyed this version of Spider Man after wondering if the change in actor's would impact the movie. It was a great make-over and tge story line was also awesome. Would definitely see it again.

    Not So Amazing Spiderman

    by GeoKaz

The movie takes way too long to get up to speed, Tom much of Martin Sheen, as if the director felt he had to give him as much screen time as possible. Storyline was very disjointed and became cheesy towards the end (with the cranes and hokey music). What chief of police would go after a dangerous foe with no backup? I give it a big "Meh".

    The Amazing Spider-man

    by tomm213

Great flick! I usually hate it when they re-write a story like the origin of Spider-man, but they did a really great job this time. Much more depth than the Toby Mc Guire film. Acting, story, action all get a 5 out of 5!

Deffinately going back to see it again, this time in IMAX 3-D.

    AMAZING!!!!!!

    by

I thought that this movie was really good, I am not one for movies based on comic books but I have to admit, this movie was really amazing. It really was Amazing Spider Man :). I also thought that Andrew Garfield was incredible in this movie, he fit the character really well and I thought he made is such a great movie. I have only seen the movie once but I am planning on going a couple more times. I also thought that Emma Stone was really good in this movie and she also played her character, Gwen, really well. Overall I think the highlights of this movie were Andrew Garfield, and everything else. There wasn't anything I didn't like in this movie, I loved it all, especially Andrew Garfield :)

    LOVE IT!

    by AmyO

I loved this movie, loved it way better than the other films. it was visually pleasing, it was also a tear jerker, and i liked that didn't drag on the "romance" between the two characters, it was all spider man and him becoming spider man
