    Really good!!

This was the best spiderman yet in my opinion. I liked the others, but this was simply done better without all the "cheesy" parts. Great movie!

Very good--better than the last Spiderman movie

Our family (adults, teenage son) really enjoyed this movie...better acting and storyline than the last big make of Spiderman. Plenty of action and story development. Not too slow. Happy to see it looks like they've set up for a sequel.

    Mediocre at best

Compared to the original movie series, the movie overall was mediocre. Andrew Garfield was great, but this version of Spiderman lacked the wit and fun of the previous SM storyline. Storyline felt rushed and a little disorienting in the first half and the last half was a little cliched.

    Disappointed

    by mzvky

Though I am a big fan of movies like this, and was very much looking forward to seeing it, I was a bit underwhelmed. It seemed a little flat. And the fact that it was rebooted so close to the previous film franchise made it impossible to watch it without doing a constant, running cross-reference back to the Rami films. I thought Garfield and Stone had fine chemistry, and I liked Sally Field and Martin Sheen as the Parkers. And it did have some entertaining moments. But over all the action sequences are so computer-generated that I could not shake the feeling that nothing I was seeing was actually happening. Plus there were continuity errors and plot holes. The audience I saw it with seemed subdued afterwards, as well. No excitement. No chattering. No applause. Sort of "been there, done that." I imagine children will like it, and maybe some fan-boys. But it just wasn't strong and consistent enough for adults. Generally speaking I was disappointed because I wanted to LOVE it and didn't.

    The Amazing Spider-Man

If you've seen the original spider-man with Tobey Mcguire you have seen the Amazing Spider-Man. I truly feel like I got ripped off. I wish I could get my time and money back. The movie was boring, as it was a remake of the Tobey Mcguire Spider-Man with a new Spider-Man. The acting was horrific and reminded me of the Twightlight and how bad the acting was between the love interest.
The special effects were good in this movie. That's about it. Oh and I did like Dennis Leery (spelled wrong).
Save your money and wait until it comes on TV not even worth a DVD rental. REALLY BAD!!!!

Some things to love, more things to dislike

This is a hard film to rate. I want to love it. I love things about it and some of the ideas of it. But, my expectations were not met and left feeling unfulfilled. I thought the cgi, the actors, and for the most part, the story were wonderful. There were some missteps that seemed to be there just to move the plot along. The fights and anything with spidey shooting webs were great.

My biggest complaint is the music. I feel that the score for the film was either composed by the wrong person or the James Horner was given bad direction . More times than not it detracted from the vibe, and I actually feel like that hurt the film most. The score of a film helps to establish the mood, and it makes a big difference in the overall tone. Some scenes should have been silent, but they came across as cheesey because of the brass playing in the background. Most the time I desired a gritty approach and we got smooth fru fru horns.

If you love comics or just want to see decent action/drama, go.

Its good, but Bad new Characters!!!

    by jea2381

I like the Movie and its graphics, but the facts are there are new characters and a new point of view, its just not interesting anymore, I hoped the story line was going to continue, or at least explain why the change, but nothing. Its SO-SO.

    Same Story

We didn't have to rehash how he got his powers again. That was already done in the first movie. The story is roughly the same as the first movie as well. There are years and years of stories from the comics to draw upon, why did they do a rehash? Also, were there any plot twists to this one? I didn't catch any.

    Original was better

    by

Sorry this was a sad attempt to revamp the franchise but it didn't work. I had hope in the begging because Peter Parker was appropriately pathetic but after about 20 minutes the movie just started to lag. It was to early to try and do this and it shows.

    Good Movie. Better than expected.

    by csavo89

Enjoyed the film even knowing the original storyline. If you ignore the original spiderman movies and look at this as its own entity it was actually very good and done well. Acting was better in the movie than it looked in the trailers. I would recommend.

    Better Than it's Predecessors, Kinda.

I thought the reboot of the Spiderman franchise would be on par with the version that introduced audiences to Tobey McGuire as Peter Parker/Spiderman. In retrospect I'll admit I was wrong. Sure the movie isn't without flaws. Does Andrew Garfield play the role as Peter "geeky" enough? Many believe that he doesn't and I can see what they mean. I would find few that his portrayal of Spiderman was anything but on the mark. I thought the story tried to follow the story as much as possible and as a comic book enthusiast I was satisfied. It would take many more hours to recreate a movie adaptation to encompass many years of character development in the comics. I thought that the supporting cast was well chosen and Rhys Ifans plays an excellent villain in his role as Dr. Curt Conners/ The Lizard. The fight scene were well choreographed even when it was CGI. There are some intense situations so parents may not want their younger children seeing this movie so keep that in mind.

Blew Tobey out of the water!

    by

I'll be the first to say that Tobey's Spider-Man movies weren't terrible (except for #3), but there was one problem I had with Tobey: he didn't do nearly enough smack-talking! Tobey probably had one scene in each movie with some banter or smack talk, and everything else was drama queen in tights! Andrew Garfield, however, captured the true essence of Spider-Man with his banter! He actually had us laughing in the theater most of the movie! There was maybe a couple of scenes where he was dramatic in costume, but those were actually needed for that portion of the story. Other than that, smack talk 24/7! Loved it! Can't wait for the next entry of the Spider-Man film continuum, as long as Andrew Garfield is behind the mask! And by the way, best movie line ever: "CROTCH!"

What can you expect from Spiderman?

It's a character that fights bad guys, this time a Giant lizard......liked that he was more open about who he is in, than hiding his heroism in the previous movies, Go Watch it.....Its a good movie....

Completely Entertaining, Delightfully Played, Masterfully Executed!

The Amazing Spiderman movie was completely entertaining, the characters were delightfully played by the entire cast and the technological work of the physical feats were masterfully produced. It tells the story very clearly of the creation of the Spiderman character. The underlying love interest becomes a huge subdued threat for the story. The scientific theory starts out with a greater good intention but quickly degenerates to an evil end. The traditional authorities representing good, do not recognize the higher good of Spiderman's mission. In the end, his mission is clear, it has been at a very costly price that now will fuel the energy and commitment for the future of Spiderman's purpose in life. - Dan
