The Greatest Cinema Simians...Ever

by Todd Gilchrist

As a critic, I have two rules: (1) I hate it when characters learn lessons, and (2) I love it when they hang out with monkeys. In fact, I would give any movie with a monkey in it one more star than it would receive without that monkey. (Yes, this makes Dunstan Checks In a one-star movie.) In honor of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, here are my favorite movie monkeys (please excuse the lack of biological specificity). Check it out!

Hellooooooo, Mr Gilchrist! Not "monkeys" in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes". Did you read the title of the movie? chimpanzees are APES, not monkeys.

Flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz! How did they even do that back then? "All in good time my little pretty, all in good time!"

Just say'n what ever your theatre charges for movies...PAY IT and see this movie!! Been an ape fan since the first one...this doesn't exactly follow the story line but its close enough and dramatic enough to convince me HUMANS ARE HORRIBLE PEOPLE AND WE WILL GET WHAT WE DESERVE!!! This was a very very good movie!! Also can't wait for part 2!

hmmm... you forgot to include PROJECT X, one of the best simian flicks, also starring Mathew Broderick, and a BUNCH of chimps, govt. trains to fly planes. A must-see!

Congo is the worst movie ever, and shouldn't ever be on any list, even one about monkeys. There is nothing redeeming about that movie
