As a woman who’s watched countless horror movies, I’ve never understood the theory that women can’t handle horror movies, especially when so many famous chillers are headlined by, yep, women. Who is usually left battling your Jason, Freddy or Michael Myers? There’s even a popular term for these fearless femmes—the “final girl.” Let’s take a moment to reflect on 10 of our favorite “Final Girls.”

Adrienne King, (Friday the 13th, 1980) did NOT survive Jason OR decapitate him, in fact Jason was not even a character in the film! It was Jason's MOTHER who she decapiated. Wow, whoever wrote this would not have survived the first Scream movie, where the killer's final question to Drew Barrymore (in order to save the life of her boyfriend if she got it right) was "name the killer in Friday the 13th." She said Jason, and her boyfriend was carved open like a Thanksgiving Turkey.
