The titular hero of the books and the films, Percy Jackson is the teenaged son of Poseidon, which makes him a demigod. He trains to grow into his powers and godliness at Camp Half-Blood with his friends (and relatives). In this film, he’s tasked with saving their Camp via the Golden Fleece which must be retrieved from a remote island away from the Sea of Monsters. Yeah, that doesn’t sound too easy….
also, unless the film makers completely changed the story from the book, Zeus had no part in the restoration of his daughter; he was the one who turned her into a tree in the first place (in order to save her from dying after she fought to make sure her friends Luke & Annabeth made it to camp safely). If anything, it was Luke & Kronos who planned on Thalia being restored by the power of the Fleece so that they might possibly have another child of the Great Prophecy to potentially manipulate to serve their own ends.
These guys completely messed up on Thalia Grace's description: She had no part of Percy's first adventure, other than that it was her tree that provided the magical border that protects the camp from monster attacks. Secondly, Percy & company weren't looking for the Golden Fleece to restore Thalia to human form but rather to save her tree (& thusly her) from dying from the poison that Luke had infected it with; her being restored to human form was a side effect that, while not entirely unpleasant, was unexpected & caused complications later on for Percy.
