Hardwicke has a huge responsibility to bring to life the beloved world of the Twilight saga. With pressure from millions of devoted fans to be as true to the books as possible, she was wise to include Meyer in the casting and other key decisions for the film.
Meyer’s initial idea for the book dawned on her from a dream she had about a vampire and a girl conversing in a meadow. He was wildly conflicted—in love with her, yet thirsting for her blood. The sunlight didn't hurt him. Instead, it made his skin sparkle and cast rainbows like a prism. Meyer wakes up, decides to write down her dream, and presto! Twilight is spawned.
