The picturesque scenery was perfect for portraying the Washington coast. Meyer states on her blog that Twilight was initially titled Forks. Nearly the entire saga takes place in the small city. She needed a place where vampires could survive without drawing attention to themselves. A sun-soaked metropolis was out of the question. Why Forks? With the most annual rainfall in the nation and limited sunlight, the Cullens would feel right at home.
