10 Things to Know About ‘Sparkle’

Music: The Old and New

Although new music was written for this reimagined Sparkle, attention was carefully paid to the classic Curtis Mayfield songs written for the original, "Something He Can Feel," "Jump," and "Hooked on Your Love." Executive music consultant R. Kelly wrote three original songs, including the final song "One Wing."

I just went to see sparkle It is a wounderful film I give this five stars. Whitney Houston was very good what a loss. For this to be the first acting role for Jordan Sparks she was excellent she should receive some kind of recognition for this film. I encourage every one to go see this movie. you cry and laugh with this movie.

I too am a huge fan of the original Sparkle, it's timeless. However, I just saw the updated version today and it was amazing! Whitney left a great imprint on the world (despite the ugly side of being in the biz). I truly believe that this updated version of Sparkle will become its own "classic" for this generation. The acting was great and yes....I also cried and laughed while watching this movie. If you are a true Whitney fan, you will miss her for years to come once you see the film. Lastly, Kudos to Jordin Sparks.....she didn't just sing, she "sang" her heart out. Not a film to miss, loved it.

I'm a fan of the original to the degree that I know the script by heart. I was ready to hate this "reimagining" of Sparkle, but I just couldn't! Keeping the major plot points intact, the writers have given both old and new fans a wonderful tale of aspiration and opportunity, love and desperation, failure and success. I've never considered Houston much of an actress, but other than her "cautionary tale" line, she played her role quite believably. Ejogo had just the right amount of "bite" for her role as Sister. Tika Sumpter almost stole the show with her own stunning beauty and her character's strength and intelligence. Epps as a "comedian with a dark side" worked, Luke was lovable as Stix, and Sparks definitely has a future in film.

This movie was very good. I Loved it!!! I want all of my friends and family members to go and see this movie. This was the best remake I seen in a long time. Whitney Houston and the rest of the cast did very well. I say this is two thumbs up. You will laugh and you will cry and then you will shout and cheer Jordin Sparks on. The Best movie of the summer in my book!!!
