Never bet against a group of animated birds. While I thought the return of the Scream franchise would ignite a bit of a box office battle, it was not to be the case as Rio continued this spring’s animation domination with $40 million and a first-place finish. Scream 4, meanwhile, couldn’t muster up enough to pass $20 million (Scream 3 opened with $34 million), which could be a bad sign when it comes to more Scream sequels from here on out (the fourquel finished with $19 million).

Scream 4, Rio

Well I feel Rio rocked it and it continues to be a great movie the kids and I enjoy. I think it had a great soundtrack to add. I wasn’t happy with the Scream four and I think that as the sequels have come the movie gets worse. I feel that after the first the success just couldn’t be duplicated. I continue to watch these movies at times with the kids using my Blockbuster Movie Pass. This brings thousands of movies, games and TV shows to your TV. Being the movie junkie I can get my fix with the newest hits 28 days before the competition. With the added benefit of streaming to a TV or PC you get DVD’s mailed to your door and the option to make quick swaps at the local store is unlimited. This allows me to have more flexibility with no late fees or due dates. Watching movies on the weekend can make a great date night. I like I can stream to my laptop while I chat on Face book. A new customer who signs up can receive this for free for a year.
@jermsworld... really? scre4m had nothing new? kids getting killed? same phone calls? nothing new added to the story? really? have you even seen the other 3 movies? they too had kids getting killed, same phone calls. scre4m was about a damaged cousin as well as an insane one killing off everyone she knew all for fame. that my friend is new. if u want to bad mouth scre4m how about u go watch the movie and this time instead of just lying just so u can get others to not see it, try using some damn facts.
this movie was great, its a true ending to the scream franchise and the ending was a shock.
I was really disappointed in Scream 4. Had a Scream marathon this weekend. The first one rocks, the 2nd was okay, the 3rd was fun because of the cameos, but the 4th brought nothing new to the table. Same phone calls, kids getting killed, and nothing really to add to the storyline. I was actually kind of bored. I've heard from the younger crowd that this movie "freaked them out." See the first one, that will freak you out.
I was really bummed about Scream 4, too. I'm a big fan of the original and was really hoping that 4 would be fantastic, but it mildly entertaining at best. Too many new characters, not enough surprises and creativity...for the sake of saving a great film, I hope they don't make any more!
Just goes to show you, no matter what movie comes out (with the exception of a much anticipated superhero flick or other epic film) half-a$$ed kids movies will always be in the #1 spot. Scream 4 was anticipated for 2 years since they came out with the official statement that they were going forward with the movie. Yet it was still beat out by crappy graphics and horrible plot about singing birds. Really? That's the plot, singing and dancing birds. How stupid and unintelligent can you get?
That's very unprofessional. Have you even seen Rio?
Yes I've seen Rio. I don't judge movies unless I've seen them. And I stick by what I said because Rio isn't original or entertaining. It's the same plot and basic scenes you see from other kids films.
The last kids film that I remember seeing that was really good was Hoodwinked (and the Ice Age trilogy, can't wait for the 4th film). I appreciate good kids movies because we've all grown up on kids movies and I like to see what today's generation is like compared to ours. So no, that wasn't "unprofessional," at all. It was my opinion and if you don't agree then that's your issue, doesn't mean I'm "unprofessional."
Calling you unprofessional is their opinion. So chill out.
Actually calling me unprofessional isn't an opinion but instead a remark that doesn't make much sense if you think about it. It's just a simple opinion, has nothing to do with profession, watching movies isn't my job therefore my opinion can't be "unprofessional." Which is what I was pointing out to the buffoon.
Wow. Really? Well, you couldn't ever be a professional because you are kind of disrespectful. You came across as unprofessional to the person. And honestly just chill out. As I said before.
To correct you once more, I did not come off as unprofessional to the person, if anything I came off as "unprofessional," to Rio and the people behind it, get your facts straight. Plus I don't need to "chill out," because I'm currently calm and was calm when I responded to the guy's comment. Also, to correct you once more, I could be professional, I usually am, just because I insult a movie doesn't mean I'm unprofessional. Everybody hates certain movies and speak out about how much they hated it, so that makes them unprofessional? So be it. Can't always have good opinions about things. If anybody needs to chill out here it's you.
I'm perfectly content. You are the one that gets all upset everytime someone disagrees with you which is unprofessional haha :). It's not a huge deal and I didn't want to upset you. I just wanted to point out that you came across uprofessional to that person and that is their opinion of your reviews.
Well whatever. Think what you want to think but I'm letting you know that your use and that other person's use of the word, "unprofessional," is incorrect and for lack of a better word dumb. As I said before at no point did I ever get "upset," and since I've already said that and if you still want to think that I'm getting upset go ahead but I've already said I haven't so your boring me, therefore I'm done talking about this stupid conversation.
Haha ok :) Glad you are soooooo calm :D
actually unprofessional can simply mean amateur and if your opinion of rio is only as deep as dancing birds, then you are an amateur at expressing critical opinions of movies. so you came off as unprofessional to me because there's more than singing and dancing birds going on in the movie. i'm not talking about inception layers of complexity, but simple good messages being portrayed in a kids movie. it's not a coincidence the movie came out a week before earth day and the main characters are endangered species. treat your planet good, promote inclusion and diversity, and lots more wholesome values wrapped up in a well animated and decent kids movie. the graphics weren't rango status, but they are good.
Fact of the matter is, it was half-assed, if you want to like it go ahead but as I said before I'm all for good kids movies and Rio was a big pile of horse ****, plain and simple. Everything about Rio was half-assed and Scream 4 was 10x better.
Thank you! That was point all along :) You rock! :D
My thanks was to mikeyphilly05 not Cookie-Chan. haha
twas my pleasure...i was just itching to chime in.
I know I rock, thanks for pointing the obvious out! ;)
So bummed about Scream 4. It was pretty entertaining throughout. I guess only little kids go to the movies these days.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
