You Pick the Hottest Story of the Week!

Well, my trusted Fandango friends, we've come to the end of another week … and you know what that means. Yup, it's time to count down the top five most talked-about stories of the week in the hopes of determining once and for all which story has enough guts and glory to be deemed worthy of being named the Hottest Story of the Week! Ready? Let's go … 

  1. 'New Moon' Soundtrack Leaks – Though the official soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: New Moon isn't set to hit stores until October 20th, most (if not all) of the dark, moody, slow-ish tracks leaked online earlier this week. With folks like Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Muse and Death Cab for Cutie among the artists featured, look for this soundtrack to shoot straight to the top of the charts come later this month. [Read More]
  2. Chris Pine is Jack Ryan – This proved to be a busy week for Star Trek's Chris Pine, as the actor not only signed on to star in a film about a petty thief-turned-master counterfeiter, but he's also in talks to take on the role of Jack Ryan in a reboot of the popular franchise (based on Tom Clancy's books) whose films previously starred folks like Ben Affleck, Harrison Ford and Alec Baldwin as Ryan. Mel Gibson Returns – After directing a couple films in ancient dialects, Mel Gibson finally returns to acting in 2010 with the cop thriller Edge of Darkness, for which a new trailer arrived online this week. While it definitely brings some edge, we're not so crazy about Mel's wicked Boston accent. [Read More]
  4. Michael Jackson's Box Office – As the Michael Jackson concert doc This Is It continues to sell advanced tickets at an alarming rate, concert promoter AEG is predicting the film will make a whopping $250 million in its first five days. Everyone seems to think that's a bit of a stretch, though in a brand new Fandango poll, 38% of readers actually do think the movie will make that much money. What's your take? [Read More]
  5. Jon Favreau Not Directing 'The Avengers' – Fans of director Jon Favreau were a bit saddened this week to learn that, contrary to earlier reports, he will not be directing The Avengers (due out in 2012), which is the much talked-about superhero movie that will combine characters like Iron Man, Captain America and Thor. Now that he's out, though, the door is wide open and folks are itching to find out who Marvel chooses to replace him. [Read More]
