You Pick The Hottest Story of the Week

First off, I’m sorry if you’re one of the many who started school this week. I can imagine that after a couple months off, these past few days of getting up early and staying up late with homework haven’t exactly been the most exciting of your life. That said, while you were desperately trying to begin the school year with a bang, Hollywood was still open for business – and the week after Labor Day weekend proved to be quite a busy one.

   
 
Here, now, are what we consider to be the five biggest stories of the week. As always, it’s up to you to decide which one has what it takes to be crowned – wait for it – The Hottest Story of the Week!
 
1. ‘New Moon’ Image and Soundtrack Leak – Every week brings new Twilight-related news, but as we approach the November 20th release date of New Moon, new stuff seems to arrive almost every day. Take, for example, the new image of Bella and Edward that was released earlier this week, as well as a 43-second preview of Death Cab for Cutie’s “Meet Me On The Equinox”, which is the title track on the upcoming New Moon soundtrack (in stores October 20). 2. Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Gets a Title – Just announced a few hours ago at the Disney’s D23 conference was the official title of the next Pirates flick: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which will arrive in theaters at some point during the summer of 2011. Johnny Depp will, of course, reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. [Read More]
3. Viggo Mortensen Quitting Acting – It’s unfortunate when actors or actresses decide to retire early, but this one kinda stings because Viggo Mortensen is absolutely wonderful to watch in every film he stars in. Hopefully his latest comments to Mens Journal – in which the actor says that he has “no plans to do another film” – are either false or a bit too premature. [Read More]
4. ‘Cars 2’ and ‘Toy Story 3’ News – A Disney-related event in London brought forth the storylines for two upcoming Pixar sequels: Toy Story 3 (due out in 2010) and Cars 2 (due out in 2011). The former looks to center on a rescue operation via a daycare center, while the latter will revisit our favorite Cars as they join a race around the globe. [Read More]
5. Entire Cast Back for ‘Hancock 2’ – Last week we learned that a sequel to Hancock was in the works, but this week we learned that the entire cast would be returning – including Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman. Returning director Peter Berg also mentioned that they have a “big name” in mind to play a new superhero (who we assume would be a villain), though he wouldn’t reveal any more details. No release date is currently set, though one imagines the sequel will drop during the summer of 2011. [Read More]
