Should we even explore the possibility of another film beating out Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 at the box office this weekend? Is it even a remote possibility that either Transformers: Dark of the Moon or Winnie the Pooh have within them enough stamina to keep up with the final Harry Potter film? Considering Mr. Potter sold out more than 6,000 midnight screenings last night (breaking a Fandango record), I’d say chances aren’t very good that another movie will top it. Still, let’s humor ourselves with a brief look at the competition …
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Harry Potter, You Pick the Box Office Winner
Hp will win. Im seeing it tomorrow morning for the first time.
I wish I would have just slept instead of watching this movie.. I know they have to leave some things out to make movies out of books but to change it as much as they did completely sucked.. They did not just leave things out. They changed things that ruined the movie completely. I WANT MY MONEY BACK.. what a terrible movie..
the final potter movie will clearly win, that's why it kills me winnie the pooh a classic for over 50 years now decided to open with harry potter. Because i am a huge potter fan, yet am a big pooh lover.Ecen thought I know potter will win I still feel winnie the pooh should be seen, and shared with new generation of children, and the generation that grew up with pooh.
i completely agree with you. i think winnie the pooh should have opened a week earlier at least so it could have won box office at least once. when people think about which to see, they see harry potter and tell themselves they'll watch pooh later, but they never do. i love pooh, it's always been my very favourite cartoon, especially growing up( eeyore's always been my favourite character ), but i love harry potter too.
Well, I kinda agree with you on this one. Pooh might have done better if it opened last week with Transformers in its 2nd weekend (which I'm expecting a huge drop this weekend in sales). But maybe...if I'm thinking of comparing Potter to Pooh...Potter is PG-13. A lot of smaller kids won't be able to watch it because if you think about it, there a lot of "scary images." Disney might have thought, "This is a kids weekend...let's give them an alternative. Something softer." Therefore, they came up with opening it this weekend. I think also that Pooh might have done better if it opened the same weekend as "The Smurfs."
Pooh is great-Although, hands down Potter is going to win. I saw Potter and many parents had their 5 years olds with them in the theatre. I'm sorry-but this movie was NOT for a 5 year old. I wish that parent had used better judgement. Even my 13 year old found one scene a little tough to watch. Winnie the Pooh is WONDERFUL, please don't get me wrong, but there is a movie for appropriate ages...that's why it's great these opened together. One parent could take one child of an appropriate age and the other, if younger, could go to Pooh.
I feel stupid even saying harry Potter...that is FOREGONE conclusion!
Im going to say Harry Potter!!!
A pretty lopsided question. Harry made more in midnight screenings than Pooh will make in its entire run.
A better post would have been to poll if 3D Potter would outdo 2D potter, or vice versa.
Actually, that would have been quite interesting to see posted and vote which would draw more money. I'm sure those numbers will be available somewhere on Monday. Me, I'm so curious I keep checking to see if that info has been posted. I'm seeing BOTH-already saw 3D (it was okay-as 3D is concerned...I've seen better) but as far as the movie is concerned vs the others-PLEASE.
This is an utterly useless post. For some time now, It's been pretty obvious who will win this weekend. It is nothing against you, Erik Davis, but the answer to the question is painfully clear. Winnie the Pooh will dominate the box office this weekend and that's that.
Was there even a reason to ask this question? Potter is taking it. No question.
Go harry, go!
Obviously Harry Potters gonna win, but I think it might also break the record for biggest opening weekend (or whatever u call it)
I'm going to put this into an optimistic and realistic point of view for this box office weekend: How many Pooh fans are there? How many Potter fans are there? Pooh gets his own ride at Disneyland...Potter gets his own LAND at Universal Orlando. How much has the Pooh universe generated in sales and media? How much has the Potter universe generated in sales and media?
Here's the bottom line: it don't matter if you're a Potter fan or not, absolutely NO ONE can deny the force that Harry Potter brings to this world. And, to know that this is the final film in the epic franchise just adds more fuel to that force. There is no doubt about it, Harry Potter will win this and the next two weekends!
you think it will beat capt america next week? thats a tough one. guess it depends on if capt is any good or not, but that will be a tough battle.
Harry is going to be on top of the box office for weeks. That is a guarantee.
just want to make sure i replied to your guarantee that HP would top the box office for weeks, because right now it looks like it's reign is already coming to an end after one week. The captain will win probably by around 10M. Harry is looking to take a huge drop...
I honestly believe it will beat Captain America next week. Don't get me wrong...The Capt. will make a good run! I'm expecting $40 or $50 million. But as for Potter...at least $60 million, no doubt.
even 60 might not be enough to beat capt. i'm really interested to see this one because hp and twilight movies are usually an opening weekend phenomenon and then they have a huge drop. if capt is close to as good as iron man it could open close to 100M and i hope it is. if its only as good as thor it will still open bigger than 60. cant wait to see...
I don't see anything interesting in Harry Potter so I'm voting for Winnie The Pooh because I've been waiting for that film for some time now! This Tuesday I am definitely seeing Pooh!
Thumps up Nassadane, GO TRANSFOMERS ITS BETTER THAN HARRY POTTER ^^^^ U HARRY POTTER
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
