'X-Men: First Class' Trailer Debuts Today!

X-Men: First ClassIt was the trailer you wanted to see the most during the Super Bowl, and now it’s finally here. X-Men: First Class is the latest film in the popular X-Men movie franchise and the first since X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It's another ensemble piece like all the X-Men films, but this one is a prequel that takes a look at how the characters Professor X and Magneto originally came to be, as friends first and then foes.

The film stars James McAvoy (as Professor Charles Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Rose Byrne, January Jones, Oliver Platt, Kevin Bacon and more in what's sure to be one of summer's biggest blockbusters. You'll recognize some of these mutants from previous installments (like Mystique), and you'll learn more about mutants like Beast, Havoc and Emma Frost.
The first trailer definitely has an X-Men feel to it, and I especially like the fact that it's set against the Cuban Missile Crisis in the early '60s. The mutants look sharp, though we only really get fast flashes of them since they don't want to reveal too much just yet. McAvoy and Fassbender are both very strong lead actors and perfect for these roles – I can see how they'll be the ones really drawing us into this story.
Directed by Matthew Vaughn (who delivered a wickedly wild ride in Kick-Ass), X-Men: First Class hits theaters on June 3rd.
Let us know what you think when you watch the trailer below. Does this look like the sort of X-Men movie you can get behind and root for? How high has this trailer helped raised First Class on your summer movie anticipation meters?

I think you all missed the point in al of this. Beast, Emma Frost on a team with Xavier and Magneto! Are F-ing kidding me. The Spiderman franchise stayed really close to the books, but the X-men franchise is all over the map mixing characters from different eras inorder to have decent story! If they had put in the time instead of trying to cash in, they could have found a writer to do a script worthy of the X-men title.

I said it before on the pre-trailer blog on this movie, and I'll just repeat it again. Now that the trailer is out, LOOKS GREAT. I knew with the talent the likes of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender that this could be an awesome prequel to the series. I stand by that after now witnessing the first trailer. I'll reserve my final review until after the movie, but for now, choke on that all you naysayers and stringent comic book fanatics. The story line looks awesome with the use of The Bay of Pigs incident. I hope we can all enjoy the wait until the big day of the movies release, and I hope it is a corker. Yeah.

I'm torn. Not because I know the whole history of x-men but because, well as good as McAvoy is, he doesn't really even look like Partick Stewart.... He doesn't have the build of Xavier even, but I'm hoping it will be good none the less.

Plug in for Atlas Shrugged in April (it could easily get lost amidst the big names if someone doesn't share it). Then again, the discussion of it in the news will bring some people to go see it. Find out how to stop the motor of the world.

I don't understand why Havoc is in here? He's the YOUNGER brother of Cyclops. Him being around, young in the 1960's makes no sense... But I still am going to see it, maybe they will tie him in somehow.

I like the idea of keeping things under wrapps. too often does a trailer pretty much give away the entire movie

I will watch the movie, but I do wish the story was more true to the original comic book. I am old school about my comics, ( the beast was not blue back then.)

How does Prof X lose his hair? The secret to success for any comic film is if stays close to the original comic story. The problem with trailers is it focuses more on marketing a product, but the audiences today are a lot more savvy, and it knows trailers are just teasers.

Eh, okay. Not all that inviting and as others mentioned, the trailer seemed pieced together at the last minute. I agree that the historical setting will add to the story line but I'm still not excited enough to purchase movie tickets. Yet.

Well we knew that they were going to have to go back in time and start over after killing off so many key players. Prior planning for the Series would have made the whole "X Men" experience a lot more enjoyable. But anyway, as far as the trailer..... please make a new one because this one sucks.
