Prometheus is a SPRequel! Prequel: the most obvious answer since it takes place first chronologically. Sequel: let's face it, this movie came out second. Requel: it recycles some of the main themes of Alien, while finding new ones.
All i know is it's one of the best looking films i've ever seen and i would love the poster!
I consider Prometheus a prequel of sorts, but I believe that it is also it's own type of standalone movie.
I wouldn't say a prequel, but it's definitely in the Alien family. But like, an Uncle or something distant.
I think 'Prometheus' is a prequel, prequel to Aliens and a sequel to Blade runner, (think David). 'Prometheus' simply swallows your mind whole and with all of its methaphors (jesus reference) and (DNA sequence at the begining), it is hard to believe were this movie actually fits in.
Have you wonder were the Predator fits in here?. 'Prometheus' is just a small puzzle of the endless cosmos.
I see this as not so much a "Prequel", but more "in the neighborhood of" Alien, and Blade Runner.
It is not a direct prequel, but a SPIN OFF.
Yes it takes place in the same universe and before the events of Alien, but it merely explains the Engineers and does not directly link it. =)
A brilliant film the way Science Fiction SHOULD be and asks the questions!
I thank all involved for this masterpiece of cinema. <3
First of all, Shaw’s baby further transforms into something which resembles an oversized face-hugger which then latches itself onto the face of the last surviving Engineer of LV-223; in the film’s closing moments a xenomorph-like creature spills out of the Engineer’s abdomen. This suggests that later down the line of evolution we will get the incredible, perfect killing machine we see throughout the Alien franchise.
i count this as a alien prequel because of the end of the movie
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
