Who's Ready for More 'Final Destination'?

By: Erik Davis on April 26, 2010 at 2:47PM Comments (13)

Wait, you didn't think The Final Destination was actually final, did you? Though originally pegged to be the final installment in the horror franchise, The Final Destination (which was the first installment to go 3D) did too well in theaters for the studio to ignore. So, get ready for a Final Destination 5, which Heat Vision reports will be written by Eric Heisserer, who's also bringing us the script for that remake of The Thing.

'The Final Destination'

What will Final Destination 5 be about, you ask? Well, naturally, they're keeping the plot details close to their chest, but it shouldn't be hard to figure out that the sequel – like the ones that have come before it – will follow a group of people who cheat death, only to watch death catch up to them in the most creative (and shocking) ways. One such way was revealed as a sort of tease, and we're being told there will be a death that involves undergoing laser-eye surgery. Fantastic!

Right now New Line is looking to hire a director, and the plan is to shoot Final Destination 5 in 3D for a release next year. What do you think about another Final Destination? Obviously the films are popular if they keep making money, so will you go see another one?

Final destination 5, with an all new cast, and all new story....(er kinda) OMG am I tired of people peddling the exact same type of crap every year and making millions off of it. The first one was good, the second one okay. The third was complete garbage and the fourth was a little better then the third, but lets face it an remake of avatar using teletubbies would have been better then the third Destination. Yeah saw has 7 but at least the plot keeps developing, in Destination they're barely even related.

We always know there will be the soothsayer character that see's it all happen, the hot chick who is to famous to show here *** on screen, the other hot actress who isn't famous enough and has to show her ***, the douche bag who doesn't believe whats happening, the authority figure who eventually does, and the movie always ends with everyone dying in the end any way. A sort of way of saying to the audience haha we got you to waste your money again. The never explain crap, and the villain might not even exist and we can just say damn these are some unlucky kids. I wouldn't waste my money on it, until these directors and story writes learn the meaning of plot development.

Please people, stop wasting your breath, er fingers. If they want to spend money to make another movie that tells pretty much the same story again, who cares? It's there money. It keeps the movie industry going. I actually went to see The final destination because it was in 3D. It was ok, but it wasn't Avatar. But those are movies. You take the good with the bad. If you don't like the movie, don't go see it. Some of you speak like someone is forcing you to pay money to see this movie. Here's my remedy..Take a deep breath. Then click on another link.

Stop just stop. The company needs to move on with other movies and not try to be another saw series. They should just stop right now because the first two final destinations were actually good because they had more depth and meaning, now its seems as though they're trying to kill people in impossible ways. They should just stop before they hurt themselves.

Another F.D. wouldn't be so bad, except they are now treating it like SAW 1-500, how many are there any way? The movie will probably be nothing more than gorey, if they could add some more story and a deeper plot to it than just the usual sequal writing, it may be alright. "Oh look death...." *insert carnage and gore* "Oh look a survivor... oh wait, no, there he goes." *insert more death* -Cliffhanger- *insert ominous music here* I just felt that the characters in the last movie caught on a little too quickly, one death and they're like "Oh my death is coming after us....." But then again, nobody is forcing me to watch them, so yay, bring on the carnage....

Meh it just upsets me to know there wasting all that money on a poor quality trash movie when they put the same amount of money into a better quality product. Coarse as long as people give them money for the low quality garbage they peddle they have no reason to give us anything of higher standards. In that sense everyone who pays money to see this crap and whines about bad sequels and garbage plot are the you are to fault. I am proud to say I haven't wasted a penny on final destination since the second one.

I am all for a 5th if it is done well. I agree that 3 sucked and 4 was OK. 1 & 2 still the best. Definitely the story would need more depth and maybe a connection to the people in 4. Maybe it is time for them to explain exactly why death has to have a plan and why messing with it is a problem. They never have really explained why they have to still die, and in order; is it going to cause the world to change somehow? I do like seeing how they kill the people though.

I guess I'm the lone dissenter... 1-2 were great, and they actually explained why the people had to die, and the reverse order in the second one to tie up the loose ends created by the people getting off the plane in the first one. But after actually just rewatching both 3 and 4 in the last week, I still find 3 to be watchable, if not as good as the first two, and watching 4 in 2D suddenly made all its flaws and horrible acting obvious. It was cool seeing it in 3D in theatres (it was my second or third 3D movie) but watching it at home, it was horrible. If they can get back to the creepiness and suspense of the first 3, and decent story of the first two, then go for it. Otherwise, start another horror franchise.
