As another year of superhero movies are now behind us, it’s time to look to the future … and in that future we have Ryan Reynolds starring in The Green Lantern, due in theaters on June 17th, 2011. So far Reynolds is the only person cast in the film, which will be directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) and is based on the popular comic. But according to Latino Review that might change soon, as their sources have revealed the names of the five actresses circling the part of Carol Ferris, who, for those not in the know, will be playing love interest to Hal Jordan (aka Green Lantern).
Assuming LR is correct, the five ladies are: Eva Green, Keri Russell, Blake Lively, Diane Kruger and Jennifer Garner. Campbell may be leaning toward Eva Green, since he worked with her on Casino Royale (and that’s probably why she’s on this list). But the character is the daughter of an aerospace mogul who also works for her father’s company, so I’m thinking we need an actress who’s beautiful, but looks a tad nerdy.
If that’s the case, you can erase both Blake Lively and Diane Kruger from the running – and if it comes down to Keri Russell and Jennifer Garner, I’d personally go with Russell just because she’s the better fit for the character, and also because I’m kinda sick of Jennifer Garner at this point. Garner is the only one out of this lot to have starred in a superhero movie before (Daredevil, Elektra), so perhaps she does have a one-up on the rest of the ladies.
