Chalk another ‘80s movie up to the reboot/sequel/remake trend. Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. is set to reboot the 1988 Tim Burton-Michael Keaton comedy Beetlejuice with the intention of advancing the storyline from the original.
If they DO make this. I want it to be directed with Tim Burton, that guy knows his movies and will make it very well. Just can't see anyone else making it.
Well if they got Tim to direct another Beetlejuice obviously Johnny Depp would be the one to take that role. That's something right up his alley. I highly doubt that Tim would direct an updated version of one of his first two movies. I guess we will have to wait and see.
Michael Keaton owns this role. He is the ONLY actor who can do the character justice. The film should not be made unless Keaton reprises his role. Period.
Beetlejuice should NOT be rebooted, remade, sequel-ized, or anything else. It's just going to cheapen the original and detract from its unique feel.
If they MUST do it, all original cast. No exceptions.
What I Say
Hmmm. read some of the comments. sequel seems to have possiblities.
keaton certainly would be a good choice. carey, no way. depp, no thank you.
willis, interesting idea
Original cast, Tim Burton as Director, anything else would be lame.
Remastering the Original for Blu Ray would be nice as well.
Why not remaster the original for Blu-ray?
For the love of god. Leave our beloved 80's movies alone. I dont want to see a remake of footloose or a remake of nightmare on Elm street. Why the bleep are you doing this to us. are you trying to tick me off. I Bet your gonna make it 3d also. WHY YOU STUPID PRODUCERS. why not show some brains. try asking people what they would like to see. i wouldn't mind Eragon book 2-4 to be made into movies. or the Percy Jackson series. But no we get hand me down remakes that are at best not as good as the original. Please dont do this.
oh btw i wouldn't mind the sequel just not the remake
Im a sucker for reboots, nothing can RUIN the old beetlejuice, if you dont like the new one dont watch it... im suuuuuuch a fan of tim burton i cant imagine anyone else directing this so hopin for that! It'll be hard to fill michael keaton's shoes but im leaning towards an alluring old evil man, less silly crazy kind of angle... like al pacino in devil's advocate.
I vote for a remake and a sequel but god don't waste the time and money on 3D it is over rated and half the people can't even see it because it hurts the eyes and gives headaches. Now though if you are goign to do this, do it right! Don't make a crappy redo of the movie, you have to go all out on this movie top quality cast (use the originals if you can) and by god add 21st Century Graphical capabilities! It really is a shame there is no Heath Ledger left because I think he could have filled the BJ role perfectly after his role as The Joker!
With the right, actors/actresses and a, good storyline, I would definitely, not mind seeing, a good, Beetlejuice remake here, ya know? P :)
Seriously people, it's a movie and last checked, no one forces you to go see it. If the thing flops, you all will have the last laugh. But I would bet anything is breaks 100 million.
your my favorite person
NOOOOO!!! Leave classics the way they are. There is no need to continue further....
Don't do this to another great movie. PLEASE! get some fresh ideas. There are no good actors or actresses anymore. I mean really, who is going to play a better Beetlejuice than Keaton?
Keaton is the only possible" beetlejuice".He is the character.
That movie is a classic! It won't work unless the original cast is in it and although I love 3-D leave the 3-D out of it!!!!!! Micheal Keaton get ready, you got a job!
What the hell is going on here? It's bad enough that comics keep using the same characters over and over and over again... now too many movies are remakes.
ENOUGH WITH THE REMAKES!!!!
If the movie was great in the first place... THEN LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE!!!!
What is it with America that they have to milk something till it's dry. We the viewers want new stuff. I didn't study movies and animation to redo someone else film. I'm gonna create original ****! Besides... that's what sell!
Gee, I wonder how Tim Burtan, Michael McDowell, Larry Wilson and Warren Skaaren feel about this?
Ooo Dear Warner Brothers,
Please hear my pleaded! Please don't make this a cheesy 3D film! This is coming from someone that has watch this classic movie well over 200 time since I was 4 and loves every minute of it!
Director ~ Tim Burton sounds good
Beetlejuice ~ Johnny Depp, he can pull anyhting off.
Lydia ~ Christina Ricci
As for the rest I'm not to sure but I hope WBs pick good ones!
Please Please Please!!!! Don't mess this one up!!! I Can't wait to see what you come up with!
I want to give Hollywood the finger!!!! Destroying classics that don't need to be remade!!!!AHHHHHHHHHRRRRRGGGGG!!!! STOOOOP!!!!!!
its not like the original is going away, they aren't replacing it! If you don't like the new one, then don't watch it, its that simple.
Agree. I think # 2 would be great, so long as it's a well written script and ONLY the original cast should continue with this great film. I believe all of the main actors are still alive. But NOBODY could be BeetleJuice other than Michael Keaton. And I mean NOBODY.
Almost like not having Don Adams play Maxwell Smart. Too bad they waited too long to make that one after he passed away.
