Summer 2015 looks like it could bring the comic book movie genre to its penultimate showdown. The L.A. Times is reporting that Warner Bros. is looking to release their long-gestating Justice League movie the same summer as Avengers 2.
There is still no director attached to the project, though a script from Will Beall has been written. Plot details are few but the lineup is said to include Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Flash.
The article confirms that WB wanted Christopher Nolan to produce the DC Comics team-up, but he declined. Nolan is serving as producer on the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel.
While there is no official confirmation yet, it is believed that WB will look to carry Henry Cavill's Superman from Man of Steel into the Justice League movie.
WB then plans to spin-off the characters into their own franchises, post-2015.
Avengers 2 is slated for a May 1, 2015 release, so one would presume WB would look to release Justice League sometime around July or August to avoid direct competition.
Plans to have the Justice League occupy the same summer as Avengers 2 raises the obvious question: Are two superhero team-ups too many for one summer?

They need a live action Teen Titans movie (based on the comic, not the cartoon [Raven/Changling (Beast Boy)!!]).
No Martian Manhunter?! WTF...? Dwayne Johnson is all I'm saying on that matter.
DC does have some of the most recognizable villans to the general public--most of the Batman classic villans +Lex Luthor and a few others from Superman. And every super hero movie needs a villan that the audience wants to see. But beyond the Batman and Superman Rogues Gallery there isn't that much rocognizable. The hero list of recognizable to the general public who don't read comics is even shorter---pretty much Superman-Batman-Wonder Woman-Flash---and if not for the movie I don't think most the public would know Green Lantern and good luck with most the other notable members of the JLA as I doubt 90% of people would know who they are. DC just doesn't have the same list of name recognition characters Marvel has.
That was the case with Marvel too before the 1rst Iron Man came out. Fact is Batman alone has the most famous villains of all time in either company, but a well done movie can make lesser known villains more popular in any medium. Most people who aren't comic book fans, but loved the Avenger's movie as well as those leading up to it had no clue who any of the villains/ characters were. They grew to love them because of the movies themselves. Each one is a fresh new start. Keep an open mind
I agree that Avengers 2 will out shine the Justice League. However I would still like to see it. I would also like to see all new actors and actress except for Henry Cavill. I give my ok for him to continue to be Superman.
I would like to see both and i will not loose my temper with Justice League standing alone. The Avengers stood alone and i thought i was not going to like it but after hearing the good reviews and the box office records, i saw it last month and it was spectacular
Nothing better than the Justice League
We are talking about a film version of the Justice League right?? It has to be done just right, the fact that Chris Nolan wants nothing to do with it, and other DC movies such as Green Lantern or Superman Returns were awful, the Justice League movie should stand alone with new actors and no correlation with any previous movies.. I sort of think it would be cool if they had the same visual effects as Watchmen...
Agree on everything you said except Watchman
Why don't you agree with Watchman. You disagree with him if you never seen it before.
That's what im trying to tell you matt
Guess were both suckers
IF YOU REALLY WANT TO COMPETE WITH AN AVENGERS MOVIE WHY NOT INCLUDE MORE CHARACTERS LIKE THE AQUAMAN, HAWKMAN/GIRL, MARTIAN AND CANARY TO REALLY SPICE THINGS UP. IT ALSO WOULD BE NICE IF YOU STAY TRUE TO FORM LIKE JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED THAT WAS ON TV.......!
What do you mean and why are your letters in cap?
lol a movie that has no director , actors, or even really a good script yet......yeah Im pretty sure avengers will win.
Let's hope both teams surprise us
Oh no! Please don't f*up the next to perfect image we all have of Linda Carter's Wonder Woman with some shabby 'celebrity' pretty face that doesn't know the first thing about Liberty or Justice. Hollywood actresses today resemble Nazi's rather than fighting them.
Goodluck ! May the best team win!
I plan to let that happen not over my dead body
Big mistake. Everyone will see The Avengers 2 then Justice League. They should of moved it too 2016.
I also think that they should put the Wonder Women movie or The Flash in instead of Justice League. Big mistake WB.
Matt let's just see how this whole thing turns out. We went through 4 summers of box office and critical competing between DC and Marvel already. I'm a much bigger fan of Marvel films, But, we will survive this now matter what final decisions are made. I think Brad Bird or David Bowers should come in and direct since they have created two of my favorite movies in the superhero genre Incredibles (Disney and Pixar) and Astro Boy (Imagi and Summit Entertainment) seperately.
Well Fandad, Marvel has done better than DC since 2011. They only didn't beat DC in 2008 when DC won with The Dark Knight. Also, DC has been only released one movie this year and last year. Marvel has been releasing two films a year (expect this year). Astro Boy is not really consider a superhero movie and in my opinion hated it. It is more of an action film. I agree with you though with Brad Bird directing, but I also think Tom McGrath who directed Megamind should produce and Bird direct. Megamind and The Incredibles are my two favorite animated superhero movies. DC did do well with its two Dark Knights though, but Marvel is way better when it comes to competition but DC often does as well, but we shall see who comes out on the top.
If you honestly think Tom Mcgrath can do it along with Bird i believe you matt. And Astro Boy i believe was the best animated film of 2009 (Sorry UP). By the way The Incredibles was better since it was more upbeat in story and had a more standout screenplay that deserved it's Oscar nomination 7 1/2 years ago. DC redeemed themselves this summer with the dark knight rises and hope they do big next summer with you know what.
No way was Astro Boy the best animated movie of 2009 (in fact it was named one of the worst) . I thought Monsters vs Aliens, Ice Age 3, and UP were the best animated movies of 2009. But we all of opinion. I agree with you on everything else fandad.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
