Vin Diesel Confirms a Seventh 'Fast and Furious' Movie

It was only a matter of time. Speaking at a magazine photoshoot, Vin Diesel confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that there will indeed be a seventh Fast and Furious movie.

Diesel, who is set to star and produce the sixth installment said the next movie will follow the recent Hollywood trend of milking money out of your wallets by splitting the story/movie into two parts.
 
"With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn't have enough space," which essentially amounts to Diesel saying in long-winded format that they plan on cashing in on the sudden resurgence of the franchise.
 
Fast Five was a bit of a surprise hit, grossing $626 million worldwide this year.
 
The fifth movie introduced Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to the franchise and also featured an extra scene during the credits which re-introduced Eva Mendes and Michelle Rodriguez into the series.
 
"We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships and when we started mapping all that out it just went way beyond 110 pages," Diesel explained. "The studio said, 'You can't fit all that story in one damn movie!'" because in reality, why should the studio make money off of only one movie when they can double their profits?
 
Fast Six is already slated to hit theaters May 24, 2013 with the to be continued Fast Seven to most likely arrive the following year. The two movies will be directed by Justin Lin who has helmed the franchise since the third movie, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
 
Are you psyched for two more Fast and Furious movies? Or does this franchise need to quit while it's ahead?

    This is just what I needed another movie or two of the Fast and Furious franchise. The movie series has been going great after ten years. I’m looking forward to what is next and weather this will be a bigger hit. I think Fast Five has to be the best of them yet and the next ones can only get better. I was able to watch all the movies on my iPad using the Sling adapter from DISH Network where I work. This has been an awesome way to view TV. I don’t worry about being home in time. I just pull out he iPad and I am ready to go. This is available from DISH right now for free, but just for a limited time. I have been happy with the freedom this has given me and the flexibility I needed.

    As long as they keep it like Fast Five it'll be all good seeing as how the 2nd one and 3rd one sucked because they were too comical and Fast and Furious movies are serious, a little dark, and action packed. And I'm glad to hear that the original cast will return for 2 more films because they made the franchise and are totally awesome. Plus I want to see what happens with (SPOILER ALERT) Michelle Rodriguez's character since she's obviously not dead. Would also love to see The Rock and Vin Diesel battle it out again because that fight scene I watch about 9 times a week lol.

    Movies should never have cliffhanger endings. This isn't TV. People pay good money to see a FULL movie. I know I don't care in the slightest if a movie is 3 hours long. It makes me feel like I got my money's worth.

    I agree. We pay good money for a movie. There should never be cliffhangers to a movie.
