In the wake of Paul Walker's sudden and tragic death on November 30, Universal decided to halt production on Fast & Furious 7. The filmmakers involved with the sequel have been trying to figure out what to do with Walker's cop character Brian O'Conner.
Universal had considered scrapping the footage that had already been filmed and take a loss of $150 million in the process in order to start over. Writer Chris Morgan may have come up with a compromise though of retiring Walker's character in the film.
Walker had shot "almost half" of his role in the sequel prior to his death and there were too many scenes for the character to be simply removed from the movie. Additionally, the opening action sequence in Abu Dhabi had not yet been filmed.
Meanwhile Walker's parents have told Paul's costars that they don't want him cut out of the movie.
The goal right now is to restart production in late January. Even if filmmakers are able to make that goal, the long hiatus makes it impossible for Fast & Furious 7 to make its July 11, 2014 release date. Universal has not yet announced a new date.
What would you do with Walker's character? Would you figure out a way to leave him in the franchise or start over?

Paul Walker, Fast Seven
That 110602742177445200360 guy is such a hater. Dec. 11th, 5:47pm now lives in infamy.
How could they go on w/out him!?
There is no franchise w/out Paul Walker and all future movies should stop.
OH WAIT. OR- they have the character die tragically mid-story, and continue their quest in honor of his name, which would be profoundly powerful and human, as he leaves behind a little baby w/ Toretto's sister who must now find a way to cope and fend for herself.
...or would that be too meaningful of a story??
Yes his comment was great (Dec 11th 5:47 p.m. person) but you guys fail to realize he isn't here anymore to "film" that so they can use it as his "retirement" story :'( so how would they (film makers) pull that off you know? It's honestly so sad, and I agree w/everyone that he should not be replaced by anyone, out of respect... My condolences to his family, cast, and film crew
The franchise started with a great cast. You have to respect each character and make sure not to replace Paul Walker's role. Only one man can pull Brian O'Conner and that is Mr. Paul Walker himself. I would hope they do not readjust the movie and take his character out of the film.
Keep his vital presence/character Brian O'Conner in which Actor PAUL WALKER brought to vivid status/Life in the FAST AND FURIOUS Hist Franchise. As mentioned above he is in a good potion of the new filming and his Family-The Walkers so want to see his presence there...'don't erase those moments with his Working Comrades-friends: like you said maybe his Co-leading Role will go into retirement. Once, again much Heart Condolences to The Walker Family and the Cast/Crew of The Fast And Furious.
they should not replace paul walker. one question i do have is how will the fast and furious movies be without him?
I SOOOOOOOO agree with the Dec. 11th at 5:47PM idea. Paul Walker should not be replace with another actor. It would NEVER be the same. The idea of 5:47PM would be perfect.
What a nice comment! You don't really see much of that these days! Good job to you, person who commented on Dec. 11 at 5:47 pm! :)
Paul Walker/Brian O'Conner retires from the Fast crew activities to raise his child with his wife.He buys a tropical island in the South Pacific with the earnings from Fast 6 and lives happily ever after as a Surfing Instructor at his own island resort in paradise. He becomes the first of the crew to realize his dream of enjoying the family life.Dominic and the crew move forward and always keep Brian/ Paul in there hearts as Family and a Brother that made it.The Fast and Furious crew carries on with Brian's spot always there as a place of honor.
Simple or not Bryan's story has to end with Walker alone
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
