'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' to Hit DVD and Blu-ray on …

By: Erik Davis on January 15, 2010 at 5:02PM Comments (27)

Before we begin, you're gonna need to get out a calendar and the biggest red marker you can find. Go…I'll wait here.

Waiting…

Okay, got it? Good. Now turn to the month of March and draw a big fat circle around March 20th because that's the day The Twilight Saga: New Moon will hit DVD and Blu-ray. But Erik, you say – isn't March 20th a Saturday? And don't DVDs usually get released on a Tuesday? Yes, they usually do – but with a DVD this big, retailers want to host some snazzy midnight release parties, which means they need a time when the kids won't have to get up for school the next day.

So there it is – March 20th. I imagine you want to know what your purchasing options are, right? Well, they haven't released all the details yet, but here's what we do know: you'll be able to pick up either a Two-Disc Special Edition DVD or a Special Edition Blu-ray – both of which will include the following:

Audio Commentary by director Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert

Six-Part Documentary takes you behind the scenes of the film

Rehearsal Footage with Muse, who is featured on the hit soundtrack

Three Music Videos from Death Cab for Cutie, Anya Marina and Mute Math

The press release does promise more, so there's still a chance for some tasty deleted scenes, though chances are they're saving those for another edition. The pre-sale begins on January 26th, just so you early birds are aware.

Will you be picking up the DVD? Will you be attending any midnight release parties? Let us know your plans in the comments below!

zoopirate seriously, if you don't like it then why do you even care what others opinions are. I might be a teen, but I know plenty of adults that got me into twilight. I just recently read the books and watched the movies. It did start out for teens, but so are a lot of other movies, and I have seen more adults that show up then kids, it is there opinion, just like yours so just be quiet. We all heard your opinion when you first wrote it, and that is fine, so let it go. Unless you are one of the few that don't like to admit to the fact that they like the movies and books? So drop it, you didn't have to read it or comment if you don't like Twilight.

I agree my husband and myself quickly fell in line after the first movie and then purchased all the wriiten materials.. AWSOME.. about time someone took a diferent twist to a vampire.. some people love a nice romance twist without the gutts, gore and Nudity.. hope more movies will be made like this

Wow, zoopirate is very misinformed! A movie doesn't do $140M on it's opening weekend (and break all midnight showing and first day Friday showing records) on a teen audience alone!! That theory simply doesn't add up! I'm in my early 40s and adored the books and movies so far and can't wait for the DVD and then Eclipse in June! But I would bet the naysayers havevn't read the books and so don't know what they're talking about, so they're forgiven.

I will be taking kids money when they go wait at Wal-Mart or Best Buy for midnight to come around. Isnt there a curfew anyways for most of the Twilighters? They are all under 16 right? 930 is when they should release it and 10pm is when they are back at home in bed out of the way. They arent vampires!

No, they are not all 16. Many of us are well over the age of 16. You apparently just have a completely different idea of a good movie, and that is fine but bad mouthing movies that other people enjoy; for whatever reason; is just as immature as you say the teens are.

I am just stating facts about curfew. The majority of Twilight lovers are under the age of 16. So why would they release it at midnight. They would lose money. I also recall the Twilight book being in the young adult section of the book store. The movie was not great sorry for my opinion. Im sorry that your 30 and like the Twilight movies. Im sure you havent seen a real vampire movie like Bram Stokers Dracula or even Interview with a vampire. Those were good vampire movies. Even Fright Night was better than Twilight. Watch some classics about vampires then read about some and then make a decision. Stop sticking up for young teens they still won't sleep with you.

I just realized that to the left of this there is an advertisment for First Bite a personalized vampire romance for teens. Then it says fall in love with your own Edward. Tell me that teens are not the majority of watchers again.

I think you are as uninformed about "Twilighters" as the studios who passed on making the franchise. I'm 44 and so are many people who saw the movie and waited in line opening day. Plus we have money, so we will be there as well. Never underestimate the power of Twilight's fans

Amen, I am 30. My sister is 27 she got me hooked. My other friends are 44, 32, 31, 33 and 46 and they love it. My cousin is 23 and she loves it. I know at least 10 more people above the age of 21 that love this series. I will admit that the movies are nothing compared to the books. this zoo lady obviously is bitter because she doesn't have or understand this kind of love story. Zoo lady....Sorry but true. Please stop being bitter.
