With all these '80s remakes popping up in theaters, it was only a matter of time before we came across more of our beloved favorites. Considering Top Gun was such a big success for Tom Cruise at the time, it's surprising that a sequel never came about. There had been talk over the years (most recently in 2008) of Cruise returning for a sequel as a 'Top Gun' instructor himself, but that never happened. Now, though, it looks like Paramount wants to make a sequel happen – so much so that they've made offers to both Jerry Bruckheimer and director Tony Scott, and are trying to get Christopher McQuarrie (Valkyrie, The Usual Suspects) to update the sequel's script.
