Last night's Tony Awards were memorable for several reasons, many of which involve Neil Patrick Harris as host (bet the Oscars are pissed they never claimed NPH as their own). On the awards front, The Book of Mormon winning big (including Best Musical) almost certainly means we'll be seeing the film adaptation at some point down the line, and War Horse winning Best Play (among other awards) may prove historic should Steven Spielberg's upcoming film of the same name take home the Best Picture Oscar. If so, it would be the first time a literary adaptation won Best Play and Best Picture in the same year. Only two other films -- A Man for All Seasons and Amadeus -- won Best Play Tonys before going on to Oscar wins, though those wins came a few years apart.
And then we come to one of our favorite moments of the evening: Neil Patrick Harris' 30-second Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark joke rampage. Before he began, NPH admitted he had to do something regarding Spider-Man's tumultuous year in which the musical shut down several times due to re-writes and unfortunate accidents. So instead of throwing out one or two jokes, NPH popped 30 seconds on the clock and just went off. Here were some of our favorites:
"No audience members were harmed during the making of this musical ... yet."
"Julie Taymor found out it was over when she woke up and found the head of War Horse in her bed."
Spider-Man is the only musical where the actors in the cast are actually in casts."

What were your favorite Tony Award moments from last night's show?
Q: How many Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark jokes can you make before they get old? A: Trick question, because they never get old.
It's kind of fitting for Neil Patrick Harris to do Spider-man jokes given that he voice the character both in a Spider-man video game and in the MTV Spider-man animated series.
Loved Daniel Radcliff and the How to Succeed... company's performance. He was robbed of a nomination.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
