Target Stores to Sneak Peek 'Breaking Dawn – Part 2,' Lionsgate May Continue Franchise

By: Derrick Deane on January 18, 2012 at 3:00PM Comments (79)

Even though Twilight Breaking Dawn – Part 2 doesn't invade theaters until November 16th, Target has announced that it will be showing a sneak peek of the film on Friday, February 10th. The sneak peek will be a part of the promotion for the Breaking Dawn – Part 1 Blu-ray and DVD release.

Tickets will be distributed at the stores' guest services beginning at 9 p.m. for the 11 p.m. show. Stores will then close at 1 a.m.

This sneak peek comes on news over the weekend that Lionsgate, which recently purchased Summit Entertainment, may look to continue the franchise.

In an interview with the L.A. Times, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer hinted that Twilight will go on.

"It's hard for me to imagine a movie that does $700 million-plus doesn't have ongoing value. It's an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration."

Another person close to the Lionsgate-Summit acquisition deal said that Lionsgate may consider using their television production department to turn Twilight into a TV series.

Would you like to see Twilight live on past the books?

If they are showing a sneak peek does that mean that we will get to see a trailer soon??

As a huge fan, I'd just like to say that the books were awesome, the movies have been pretty good and it should be left at that. Let's not turn it into a lame TV show! Man, these people will do anything to make a few more bucks. Enough is enough, let it be what it is. Don't ruin it with stupid episodes.

I think Stephane Meyer should break down and finish writing Midnight Sun. That is one way to continue the story. Writing it from the vampire POV would be darker, but possibly juicier.

NO TV SERIES, PLEASE. Personally, I think that would diminish the essence of this tale.

If Stephenie keeps writing it I'll keep reading it. If they keep making movies, I'll keep going. By the way, I'm one of the "old" fans.

I think making Twilight live on past the book will not be as exciting. When people try to do things for more profit, it causes the foundation of the books to be lost. I truly like the Twilight Series and would not want it to loss the excitement and love it brings by making it a t.v. series.

If they continue these movies beyond the stories of the books they better do it soon. Robert and Kristen, as well as the rest of the cast ARE going to grow up and older. Hard to portray an immortal when you are getting old. I can't see (or want to imagine) anyone else playing these parts. A TV show would just destroy the magic. The books were wonderful, my husband read them right along with me and enjoyed them immensely. (we are mid 50s and 70s respectively) A good story is a good story and not limited to teenagers. All three of these actors, Patterson, Stewart and Lautner deserve to move on to new and bigger projects, let them go on and grow in their field.

Yes, whatever they are going to do they need to hurry it up. Rob & Kristen have so many irons in the fire these days it may be difficult but the only magic left as far as I can see is the Midnight Sun story - hope Stephenie does finish it one day soon. All the people in the movies were excellent in their roles, in my opinion - that is why the movies made so much money. Yes, they appeal to all ages - I am 80 yrs. so I can vouch for that!

If it weren't for a superbly written book series there would be no shirtless hunks or screaming teenagers. Making this franchise into a tv series cheapens it, and beats it to death until it becomes money driven rubbish. I say wait for the author to write another book, or do a movie about midnight sun, Edwards take on the twilight novel. Next thing you,ll see is a happy meal toy of Bella. Oh pardon me, they had that already.

There is a reason why the story ends with breaking dawn. Its meant to be finished. Adding to it with a TV series would be the biggest mistake they could make. These companies only see the story with dollar signs in their vision. I'm pretty positive that they will not have the support of serious fans, only the 13 yr olds and moms who watch the movies for hot guys.

Ultimately, it's disrespectful to Stephenie Meyer to attempt to carry her characters past anything she has written of them. This is her world, her creation - and she is (at least for now) done writing about it. If they were going to stretch out what she has written, the only two acceptable options are The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner or Midnight Sun. BUT...in re: Bree Tanner: it's not long enough, to be made into a movie of its own, and Midnight Sun honestly shouldn't be done either, since, as awesome as it is, it's replaying the same story we've already seen (though if it prompted Stephenie to finish writing it, I know it would sell like crazy as a book!). Unless and until Stephenie has another story to tell, they need to let it go.

THIRD try to get this posted....Lionsgate-Summit should take advantage of the Exquisite graphics used on the Twilight websites/DVD Menus to continue the Saga (film/tv/dvd/internet) in an Animated format Featuring the Voices of the ORIGINAL CAST. This would solve MANY issues - career schedules/Vampires and Wolves Aging/physical-CGI limitations to storyline, etc. Quality and Continuity would be Preserved and Respected. Honestly, the Cast brought the stories to Life and I have the Imagery Emblazoned in my Memory - Accept No Substitutes. Using the graphics in animation allows the Saga to Continue Uniting New and Enduring Fans. Hope it Helps! BK Silva

oh hell no they need to stop!! Movies are one thing and a tv show is a whole other thing!! I think BD part II should put an end to the franchise and the whole vampire love craze!! and i seriously doubt that the actors would want to downgrade to the silver screen!!

The only way this would work would be if Kristen and Rob were the stars...and they would be very picky about doing this. Stephanie Meyer has started Midnight Sun, a book about Edward's point of view I believe. This would work, and may even interest Rob. Also, A book about Edward, Bella and Renesmee may work. Again only with Rob and Kristen! Without them, it will fail. The actors have made the films successful, not the m ovies per se on their own. The stories are wonderful (the books). Couple this with a sexy Rob and you have success. Without 1 or both of these ingredients, the new film, or God forbid, TV show will be a bust!!!!

I'm not sure if I will go and see the second part. The director for part one sucked and I'm sure it's the same guy for part two. Each movie release (Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse) was better than the previous one...untold this last one (Breaking Dawn). The potential for a great movie was, but the studio screwed it up having it directed by this loser director. Even the cast knew who would have the right director but the studio ignored them.

Only would be interested in a continuation if it had the same actors/actresses. I hate when they try to squeeze something else out of a good story but end up changing the people.
