What began as a big screen spin-off of a Saturday Night Live sketch has gained a cult following. It has been two years since MacGruber arrived and detonated in theaters and now it appears that devoted audience may be getting a sequel. Did you watch the first MacGruber? Would you be interested in a sequel?
Phew, we finally have a day off from the Superman rumors, only to run right smack into some new Ghostbusters 3 casting rumors. We don't really know where they're at with this film as of now. Last I heard they were potentially thinking about beginning production in May, but until they have a finished script and a cast lined up, this sucker ain't going anywhere.
When it comes to movies based on sketches, you kind of take what you can get. I don't envy the folks who have to turn a 2-minute sketch into a full-length feature, and, as expected, most of the time the whole thing just falls flat. Since most sketches are built around one or two punchlines...
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
