Say what you want about the prequels and the subsequent animated series, but I’ve been so impressed with what they’ve been doing with The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network that I was actually really looking forward to the impending live-action television show. We’ve been hearing about this show for some time now; how the scripts were being worked on and how George Lucas was putting this entire thing together without having a home (ie: TV station) for the show.
Star Wars, George Lucas
Very simply put, I don't give a flying fig about the FX as long as the *STORY* is good. Good acting, writing, editing, etc. is what makes a good show. It sounds like this is being aimed @ we who grew up in the time before celphones (30+). We grew up forgiving (and sometimes enjoying) really cheezy effects. (Anyone remember the old Wonder Woman or Spider-man live series?) CGI is just there to make things cheaper/cleaner. As long as there is compelling story, I will buy the disks. I do think that it would be "safer" to go with a different era, though. Any time that you mess with cult icons you run the risk of alienating the fan-base that will stick with it through the worst of plot-lines. No matter what, I will do my best to give it a chance.
I think they should shop the Star Wars live tv show to either USA or TNT they have the budget for big tv production. Just don't make the mistake that Fox made with the SARA Connor Chronicles don't run it on a Monday cause it will die do to Monday Night Football and WWE RAW.
Otherwise lets get this party started and if lve action don't work animated is just fine with me and I happen to like the Clone Wars.
Take a look at recent Battlestar Galactica series. That didn't look cheap at all and it was on a cable network. I think it's definitely something they can make happen.
Sarah Connor Chronicles ruined the Terminator time-line...but it was okay if you're not a purist.
That said, I think it would be fantastic if they shot it like they shot the original films.
Terminator 3 ruined the Terminator timeline, franchise... World. Seriously there was no way to make the series worse, Chronicles could only help it at that point. Like the Crystal Skulls, Terminator 3 is best to just pretend like they never made it. That sequel doesn't count... Much like Star Wars the new trilogy.
How have shows like Eureka, Warehouse 13, and the Stargates made their money? At the least, Stargate was not cheesy.
So ready for another good show on TV and this sounds right up my alley. I can imagine it being the next Heroes, but hopefully with a longer run. Yeah, I agree, the CGI doesn't have to be spectacular for TV, just need to make sure the show lives up to the Star Wars franchise. Can I say anything else? Let's do this already!!!
Whatever it is about and whenever it comes out, the live-action show will definitely not be the worst made-for-TV Star Wars program. That honor is held by the Holiday Special.

It sounds pretty down and if George Lucas is running it then it should be good. They just have to be real careful not to make it lame. They could easily screw this up.
He seems to be focusing on making it even better than the movies. Why doesn't he follow the route of Star Trek and leave the highest budget stuff for that. Its quite easy to get by on a smaller budget and still retain the look and feel of the franchise. Though that makes me wonder what he's up to more because he's trying to par down the budget.
I heard The Sarah Connor Chronicles was good. Just goes to show it can be done. I love The Clone Wars. It's better than volumes one, two, and three put together.
Take a look at the Sarah Connor Chronicles. They did an excellent job.
I like the idea alot but I wish they would do it during the old republic, rather then vaders reign. As for animated, if they made it look more like the Star Wars Old Republic MMO's videos rather then the blocky excuse for computer animation that they are showing now I know a lot more people would tune in.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
