Sound Off is a weekly theater-related discussion post here at Fandango where we talk about the past, present and future of moviegoing
So here we are in 2013, and so far this year doesn't look all that different from last year. Movie theaters are still packed with folks lined up to see the weekend's new release, and just like last year, you still go through the same routine of entering the theater, picking up the tickets you reserved through Fandango (if you didn't already print them out or keep them on your phone), and then hustling over to the concession stand to pretend like you don't already know what's there.
So you stand around for a few minutes trying to survey the menu, which, depending on your local theater, may have in recent years grown to include hot foods like chicken fingers, french fries and pizza. Then you finally step up to order ... popcorn. The usual. And it tastes pretty good. But what if there was something new on the menu that helped sway you away from the popcorn this time? What if that something new was too good to turn down? What would that have to be?
That's what we're looking to get out of you this week. As many of you plan to head out to the theater for the first time in 2013 this weekend, what's one new food item you'd like to see on that menu the next time you're standing in front of it trying to decide what to munch on? Would you go healthy and choose a specific salad or wrap? Or would you go the chocolate-covered route?
Mmmm ... chocolate covered .... anyway, sound off below and let us know what one new food item you'd like to see in your local theater next time you go see a movie.

Once in a while for me too
The 7 Seas will dry up and become farmland before the prices of movie snacks will go down to reasonable levels without lack of quality and flavor.
Many good ideas on this list but for many of them you have to remember without employees who give a damn about what they serving customers and taking proper care and maintenance of the food and its storage you may as well just keep things the way they are.
Not a bad idea
Not a bad idea either
We have alcoholic beverages in our theater. :)
Large hot PRETZELS (milk free)! Unbuttered & unsalted and people could pick what "seasoning": butter, celery salt, garlic salt, sea salt, white cheddar (just need to brush pretzel lightly with water for seasonings to stick) or "dipping sauce": american cheese, buffalo, honey mustard, hot (horseradish) mustard, jalapeno, sweet & sour, yellow (hot dog) mustard, etc.
A type of Happy Meal (in a box)... white castle burgers, mini chicken sandwiches, corn dog bites, with french fries or fruit... easy to carry out or pick up trash.
I LOVE steak cut french fries at the movies!
NEVER DO SUNFLOWER SEEDS... I worked at a theatre once and they are the second worst thing to have to clean up... dirty diapers being the first.
Greek Yogurt Cups!!!
Hot pretzels!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah with mustard. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I don't remember having a soft pretzal
Why don't we have corn dogs? Hot dogs are too messy and require too much work.
Its a nice thought to ask, but at what cost. Everything is so high right now, doesn't matter what they add to the menu. If they would bring down the cost on things, I would like to see either soft served yougart or ice cream. Oh here is a thought, have specials from time to time on treats.
Anything HEALTHY and Gluten Free..My family (not by choice) has celiac, and the snacks in theaters limit what we can eat..I also read that the "butter" they use on popcorn is linked to health problems
I'm on gluten free diet too since i have autism, But i have a problem once in a blue moon
Nothing new on my mind, I'm still a popcorn fan but whatever is added it MUST NOT MAKE A BUNCH OF NOISE WHEN IT'S BEING EATEN. I feel bad for the noise I make scraping the bottom of my bucket of popcorn.
Brewers yeast (nutritional yeast) seasoning for popcorn.!!! Some Portland theaters offer it but none of the Regal or Cinemark.
Like Tim's Cinnebar there are the Cobb theaters with full meals and bar drinks. I'd like bite size anything like jalapeño poppers, cut up apples with dip, bags of fruit & nut mix.
Wow, didn't mean to post this three times. Sorry folks.
Its ok, we all like bacon
Me too matt
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
