Late yesterday a rumor sailed around the internet claiming Harrison Ford is actually petitioning George Lucas and Steven Spielberg to kill off his character in the next Indiana Jones movie. Since then Ford's reps have stepped forward to squash the rumor, noting that Ford never said that, but it still opens things up to an interesting discussion amongst fans.
Steven Spielberg, Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford, George Lucas
Hell No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like a true hero he needs to ride off into the sunset.
jonny jon jones
What would be interesting is to have actor Dennis Quaid star as Indiana Jones! After seeing actor Dennis Quaid in certain movies he looks and sounds just like Harrison Ford and he is a bit younger than Ford.
Maybe the aliens from the last movie can abduct him and bring him into outerspace. Then he can play a duel role as Han Solo and Indiana Jones at the same time! He can either be called Han Jones or Indiana Solo. Just a thought.
Live. Live. Live! You absolutely can't kill him off - as stated previously, he is supposed to live be a minimum of 93 years of age. Therefore, I imagine him "dying" peacefully over an ancient copy of some important text that he was perusing more for his enjoyment than for any specific research. This is, of course, a cover up - as one might recall in IJTLC (Last Crusade) he had drank of the Holy Grail, like the knight, and, like the knight, is possibly blessed - or perhaps cursed - with a type of immortality... he would likely retire away somewhere to do research for the rest of his incredibly long, long life (until the second coming maybe?) Either way, he has to live to his 90s. Period. End o' discussion.
INDIANA JONES is an iconic character & wonderfully brought to vivid-life from Actor Harrison Ford...'No way this treasure character should be killed off if Actor Sean Connery can play INDIANA Jones father so can Harrison Ford every now & then..'maybe just passed the torch on down to his son making guest appearance's.
Heres a great way to "retire" Indiana Jones. Think "Last Crusaders", and have Indiana find a way back to where the Grail may have fallen, and he becomes some sort of gaurdian, like the knight he met in the movie. Could be ironic... Anyway, you just cant kill Indie.. he drank from the cup... Thats foreshadow if I ever seen it.
No Way!!!! That would be AWFUL!!!
Having him live on through another actor didn't work for 007. So he needs to die I say we have Angelina Jolie kill him off and then have his son chase her for a few episodes, before killing her off. Yeah lots of ACTION!!
As far as i'm concerned they already killed him off in the fourth debacle. I grew up watching Indiana Jones and probably have seen Raiders more than ANY other movie. I was horrified at how bad the latest movie was. I hear South Park had an episode where Spielberg, Lucas and Ford rape Indiana's character. That's certainly what they did to all of us with that fourth movie. I'll never watch another so called "Indiana Jones" movie. Further more i immediately decided i'd boycott the next two or three movies that Harrison Ford, Spielberg and Lucas do respectively because Indiana Jones should have never been given that treatment. The character is to reverred in this country to get away with doing what they did.
I am a big fan of Indiana jones and I really want another movie.....but I don't want Indiana to die! Ever since I was 5 years old I loved Indiana Jones! I may only be 13 1/2 years old now but I love Indiana Jones! I think of him as an idol! I am always waiting for another Indiana Jones adventure! Hope there is another movie! BUT....they should NOT NOT take out or kill off Indiana Jones!!!!! Indiana Jones will live forever!
I think it would be ok to do this, with one exception...it wouldn't fit in with the complete Indiana Jones canon. For those hardcore fans who actually followed the Young Indiana Jones chronicles, it is well-known that the character lives to be an old man (in his 90s if I remember correctly), eventually narrating stories about when he was younger. Killing Jones off while Harrison Ford is still playing the character at the age of 70 or so would totally contradict this, thus making those stories null and void.
Indy most definitly SHOULS NOT DIE!!! I grew up watching Indiana Jones and if he were to die that would ruin the entire saga. He should live to see his grandchildren follow in his foot steps!!
ok i love lucus i love is movie and games and stuff like that but they r going to lose a big part of consumers if they do this! they cant do it they just cant. i swear that if they do they will not only lose myself as a comsuer but my frieds and family and most likly.... more then 60% aswell!
I agree. Indiana Jones wouldnt be Indiana Jones without the original Indiana Jones. I wouldnt waste my money on it & neither would my friends & family!!
Indiana jones movies are fun and adventurous. If you take that away and don't replace it with another film of the same quality how do you expect movie fans to keep going to see them. Actors get old and eventually die over time. The generations whom created these actors needs to pass on these artful skills to a new generation to keep these adventurous and fun movies alive. Otherwise our world will be just very boring and no one will laugh anymore. I for one would still like to see these movies more and more in the theatres. Drama is coming to be too much common place unless it has a good plot to it. Adventurous films keep life more fun and interesting and even helps us emotionally to have a better outlook. That's my theory.
Killing off Indiana Jones is almost as bad as making the iconic Mr. Phelps a turncoat in the first Mission Impossible film. It will probably work for the younger generation who just want titillation; but not for the actual adult. My bet is the studio goes for the titillation, and the bucks. A sad state our world is in!
As a true movie lover, I enjoyed the series in the order they were released ( Raiders of the Lost Ark, I.J. and the Temple of Doom, I.J. and the Last Crusade, and I.J. and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). That being said, in my own opinion, how long possibly could Harrison Ford continue the series?! If there is another, Indy should play a lesser or supporting role. His heir apparent should then continue.
If they kill off Indy then I think Mutt should pick up right where he left off and carry on the family tradition and then pass it on to his kids and so on. It would make for one heck of a trilogy not that is not already but this would make it even better and appeal to the younger generations more. Just food for thought.
i think killing Indy would be a weird, sad, good and also a bad thing to do, but i think it's well worth the risk i mean i like the story of him retiring but i wouldn't really like the thought in my head of Indy siting in a retirement home through out the whole movie well his son is out adventuring. but ether way i just want to see a really sweat next Indian Jones movie
he's to young to die - let him retire
dont kill indy let the sieres move on or at least let the series die indy series are my favorites i dont want a very heroic person to die he can retire if he wants but dont kill him
I like the idea posted above about maybe bringing in Daniel Craig. But he should not play the part of Indiana Jones. He should play a friend or something. This is not the James Bond series. We don't need multiple indies. Use the last movie as a spinoff wether he dies or retires just don't expect to just hand over his part. No one could do it like Harrison Ford!
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
