Shia LaBeouf Says ‘No’ To More ‘Transformers’ Movies; Reboot Possible

By: Derrick Deane on June 10, 2011 at 1:52PM Comments (38)

Shia LaBeouf sure did have a lot to say during the MTV Movie Awards this past Sunday. Aside from dropping hints that the ball is rolling on a fifth Indiana Jones movie, the 24-year-old actor (he turns 25 tomorrow) has said that he will not be back for another Transformers movie. The actor also added that director Michael Bay would most likely not return either.

Bay has a trio of movies he’s current producing. The most prominent of them is the long-gestating movie adaptation based on Hasbro’s Ouija Board game that has McG (Terminator Salvation, We Are Marshall) currently attached to direct. He also is producing a thriller called Fiasco Heights that has Samuel Bayer (2010’s A Nightmare on Elm Street) attached to direct.
LaBeouf has one project slated for release post-Transformers. In The Wettest County in the World, a Depression-era crime-drama, LaBeouf co-stars with Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska and Jessica Chastain.
LaBeouf went on to say that the franchise is still hot property so, “I imagine they’ll reboot it at some point with someone else.”
Could another director bring the level of CGI chaos that Michael Bay does and who could replace LaBeouf should Paramount decide to move forward with Transformers 4?

not the greatest movies ever made, no. but they're enjoyable and Shia always give a great performance. He's a feel good actor. it won't be the same but it'd be embarrassing to try and 'replace' him. they could branch off and go to Cybertron and we could discover more roots to Bots. or branch off and include only Lennox and his team. an entirely military storyline with giant robots could be very interesting. just some thoughts. i do enjoy Shia though.

I wouldn't mind seeing another director take a crack at Transformers. I'd like to see the characters redesigned so that they look more like Transformers. The only thing they must never change is you MUST have Optimus Prime, and he MUST ALWAYS be voiced by Peter Cullen. Other than that, I'd like to see something a little more faithful to the original G1 storyline. Oh yeah, Frank Welker as Megatron would be nice, and use the vocalizer on Soundwave so he doesn't sound like Claw from Inspector Gadget please.

I am not a "Transformers" fan, per say. I believe it is a film franchise that caters to the weak-minded. I enjoy Shia LeBouf and was shocked he returned for the awful sequel to the not-bad original "Transformers." Director (not that he deserves that title) Michael Bay apologized for "Transformers 2." This seems to be the Michael Bay formula that "works": move forward with a film that has a terrible script, fill plot holes and shallow characterizations with C4, jump-cut constantly so viewer will not become aware of the hollowness of the film, market film as a movie for our tech-fantastic generation, the public will eat it like candy.

Transformers movies are the greatest example of everything that is wrong with American movie making. LeBeouf is an insufferable little twat (even more so off screen) ; Bey makes crap movies that are nothing but valueless over hyped over produced excuses to string explosions together with as little substantive story or characters as he can get away with (he should have been fired after the 2nd one); none of the characters are really very likable or realistic; the ONLY thing they first 2 had going for them was the incredible hotness of Fox. She may be a poor actress, but she knew enough to get out of this miserable franchise. I say they reboot it into the garbage can where it belongs.

im pretty sure people just go see Transformers to have fun with buddies on friday nights. Its just one of those movies that take u away from reality instead of dramas based on things that can happen in real life. I don't believe Transformers is a problem in American movie-making because people ENJOY them. They are just there to entertain, they arent making it to win awards or to be critically acclaimed

The crappy Transformers films make more money overseas than in the USA. The Americans aren't the problem...it is the dumb people in other countries who pay to see these sh**ty films.

Michael Bay is a joke nowadays. The second Transformers sucked more than Gigli. Not anticipating the 3rd one even though it looks mildly entertaining. Plus the fact that this is the last Transformers as well as the fact that Megan Fox won't be in the last one actually makes it seem worth seeing. Michael Bay used to be cool before he started throwing his money at random horror remakes and other pieces of crap movies that had no plot, tons of explosions and unnecessary boob scenes.

to my surprise i actually agree with you this time. i have no problem with bay but tforms part 2 was pretty wack. and we all know that m fox cant act and she is only there to get the little boys dicks hard. i will see part 3 because i saw the other two but i am not expecting much from this one. m bay is all about blowing **** up and i have no problem with that. i will see any of his movies as long as it looks good. if you read some of the other posts on here then you will agree with me that there are idiots on this site.

sometimes its cool to watch a movie that has no plot line and **** gets blown up like t formers. but part 2 was crap and 3 may not be any better but i will go see it because i saw the other two. i also agree that it doesnt take much to impress anybody anymore but that is because parents dont know how to educate there kids they let xbox and ps3 do that for them. we should join forces and stop these idiots from posting on here

Agreed. We can't and don't always want to watch some deep thinking artsie fartsie film, sometimes we actually NEED mindless action, unnecessary boobs and blood. Transformers was amazing visually and every other way while the second one (due to the writer's stike) blew chunks visually and plot wise. Not to mention there was no need to throw in those 2 black voiced autobots. I will definitely be at the 3rd because the graphics and storyline look decent and interesting. Trust me I've tried to teach today's generation how it should be but it's a lost cause. All this technology is evil, entertainment=shameful (nothing but remakes and now they have resorted to comics and games for movies) i.e. monopoly, candyland, Real Steal (rock em sock em)

there are no original ideas anymore. everything is a remake or a sequeal. but alot of these stupid *** kids love them because they are not edcuated because all they do is play xbox all day and they are not creative enough to think of something new. trashformers 2 was wack but there is no proof that skids and mudflap were black autobots they are robots not blacks.

Exactly! Everytime I see one of these remakes and hear one of the kids act like and say it's one of the best original ideas they've seen I feel like slapping them and saying, "Original idea? Get your facts straight and watch the original." That's why I hated Avatar. People were saying it was brilliant and the plotline was such a creative and original idea. REALLY?!?!? We white people going to a land that isn't our own, taking it from the natives, killing them all for greed and power, yeah totally original...except that it happened in our own friggin history with the indians back in the 1800's.

i thought avatar was ok. it was a little long though. like i said before. kids now a days dont know ****. they are too lazy to read the book first or watch the original. this is because there parents are lazy and dont have the time to educated them. when i go to the movies during the school year in the morning they are always there. i have to go to the manager and have them removed. i go to the movies in the morning so i dont have to deal with those idiot, but they are too busy cutting school than being educated. it it nice to see that we agree on somethings.
