Perhaps traveling in France has loosened Shia LaBeouf up a little, because while promoting Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, the actor has been openly sharing his thoughts on how he really feels about both Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – both of which have taken a beating from both critics and fans since first arriving in theaters.
First up, with regards to Transformers 2, he told the AP that "there were some really wild stunts in it, but the heart was gone," adding, "When I saw the second movie, I wasn't impressed with what we did … We got lost. We tried to get bigger. "Mike [Bay] went so big that it became too big, and I think you lost the anchor of the movie. … You lost a bit of the relationships. Unless you have those relationships, then the movie doesn't matter. Then it's just a bunch of robots fighting each other."
Funnily enough, in describing the third film, LaBeouf said that "it's going to be the craziest action movie ever made, or we failed." So let me get this straight: The second movie failed because you went "too big," and yet you want to make the third movie "the craziest action movie ever made"? Now how does that make any kind of sense?
LaBeouf wasn't done there, though, and eventually it came time for him to throw some stones at the fourth Indiana Jones movie. Not only did he go on record saying that Harrison Ford had major problems with it, but he also brought up the infamous monkey scene, noting, "You get to monkey-swinging and things like that and you can blame it on the writer and you can blame it on Steven [Spielberg, who directed]. But the actor's job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn't do it. So that's my fault. Simple." LaBeouf later admitted, quite simply, that Steven Spielberg "dropped the ball".
