Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
I loved the movie for it's fun dialogue, for its jammin' soundtrack, for Michael Cera's surprisingly perfectly cast role, for the insane but somehow cohesive plot, for all the video game references that go over cool people's heads, for... well, for completely blowing me away! =D
this movie was AMAZING!!!!!! one of the best ever!!!
I loved this movie because it was original. A genre all it's own. I loved the characters, the music, the action, everything. Great actors too. A big plus that it wasn't a sequel, prequel, reboot, remake, or re-imagining. I have to admit that I haven't read the comic, but I will now.
Oh how i ******* this movie, nay, lesbians this movie. Great cast. Great music choice(and sweet sound effects!) Very, VERY entertaining. I went to this movie more then i went to Inception!!! Me and my friends stinkin' loved this movie! The fighting was right up with the comedy on the scale of 1 to AMAZING!!! This movie was definantly a visual masterpiece filled with rich comedy and Kick B*** Action! Did i mention I ******* this movie?...
I absolutely loved this movie because it had great dialogue, great action, and great acting. This movie was just GREAT.
I loved this movie because it was completely different than most all "teen" movies that come out. I also loved how close it was to the graphic novels it's somewhat rare when a book to movie gets as close as Pilgrim was. I'm disappointed by the box office intake for this film and think that so far it's my favorite movie of the year. Yes ahead of inception (it's brilliant self). But to know that its become a instant cult classic makes me happy. Hopefully it will find new life on blu ray and dvd.
I enjoy the comics and am a bit of a gamer myself. That said it was a great movie to see because it was made by a person looking to recreate a story made by people who also read comics and play games. In this sense, the film was saturated in obscure comic and video game references. From the great fairy fountain theme in the beginning of the film to Scott retracing his steps around enemies on his way to face Gideon the second time around, the film in itself seemed to be a celebration of both comics and gaming itself, which surpasses the stereotypes of what it is to game or enjoy a good comic. Understandably the film isn't for everybody-but there's a certain level of appreciation for the subject matter I feel most who saw it went it with
I loved the movie because it was unique.
I went into the movie not really expecting much, as I had never read the books before. But I was very happy upon leaving the theater. It was a great mix of music, videogames, and humor. I was captivated throughout the entire movie and I have been dying to see it in blu-ray since that night.
the movie captured the spirit and feel of the books SO WELL! :) would love to see again.
how faithful it was to the books
I absolutely loved this film. I don't understand why more people didn't go see it. They are really missing out. Creative, wacky, hilarious, witty, and wonderful. :D
how faithful of an adaptatio it was to the books
I guess I can understand why it didn't appeal to the masses. As clever/smart as it was, it targeted people who appreciate video games and comic books. As awesome as the fight scenes were, the leading man is a scrawny kid who's as intimidating as a meerkat. Also I do think there is some sort of Michael Cera backlash that I just don't understand.
But I think it really comes down to the fact that people just didn’t know what to expect. Nowadays it’s as if people need to know exactly what they’re getting into before they see a movie. That’s why previews now show you the entire movie.
Oh well, it's everyone else's loss if they didn't see the movie. Like Arrested Development, Scott Pilgrim is way ahead of its time.
Where to begin? First: Edgar Wright. The guy directed Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. That's enough right there. Second, Scott Pilgrim was just filmmaking at its best: awe-inspiring visuals, hilariously dynamic dialogue, great characters, and an engaging story packed with so much humor you'll probably have to watch it 5 or 6 times before you catch every joke. The movie is not just a movie. It's a graphic novel and a movie. I'm seriously in awe of Edgar Wright's talent.
I'm a huge fan of the graphic novels, I own all the volumes and I've read them over and over again. I was a bit skeptical after I heard that the comics were being made into a movie, but after I saw the cast I had no doubt that Scott Pilgrim vs. the World was going to rock! I think the cast is what really made the film so enjoyable, they were perfect - and I was really excited when I heard that Kieran Culkin was playing Wallace Wells.
It was really something you haven't seen before. I love comic book movies, but it was also a video game movie and approached things in a way that got my friend to say, "I have hope for live-action adaptations of anime."
The movie was freakin awesome! Because of it originality and the video gameness! Also I absolutely loved all the sound effects and music in the movie it fit perfectly. And I love Michael Cera and his dorkiness. the whole thing was simply brilliant i loved chris evans too. id have to say the movie was kick butt dude!

This movie spoke to me in a way that no movie before has. As a hard core nerd I and video game lover it was like this movie was made for me. As a comic book movie I felt it captured the feel of a comic book better than any other movie ever made.
I saw this movie in the theaters 5 times. I would love that backstage pass. I would wear it everywhere.
This was one of the best movies this year had to offer! I loved every Nerd-ridden second of it! it This and Kick-*** were the two greatest flicks 2010 had to offer. Well i will give a shout out to The Social Network for being the best drama this year offered also. I think everyone should have seen Scott Pilgrim I am sdad it was not a high grossing flick, but I guarentee you it will be another cult classic. Remember Howard the Duck was a box office dud but I guarentee you most people talk about it!!!!!!!
my favorite movie of the year, everyone should by it...
I saw the movie 3 times. The last time I saw it was late after work one night, so the only screening was with closed captions. This is normally really distracting, but because it was based off the graphic novels it was kind of cool being able to read all the dialogue. Plus you got to "hear" a lot of really funny snippets of background dialogue that usually were inaudible.
This movies lack of "success" was really tragic.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
