October means postseason baseball, pumpkin spice lattes and horror movies leading up to Halloween. It's also the month that Esquire magazine reveals its annual Sexiest Woman Alive and this year, much like 2006, the editors have selected Scarlett Johansson as the Sexiest Woman Alive.
While it's a justified pick, it also seems a bit lazy not to mention there are plenty of other actresses out there that are certainly deserving of the "honor."
That being said, we've compiled our list of Alternate Sexiest Women Alive below. Some obvious choices such as Charlize Theron, Mila Kunis, Jessica Biel, Halle Berry, Kate Beckinsale and Angelina Jolie have been omitted since these actresses have already graced the cover in recent history. You can click on their names to check out their Esquire galleries.
So here's who we've come up with. Who would you pick as the Sexiest Woman Alive? Sound off in the comment section below.
Jennifer Lawrence – She was a May 2010 Esquire "Women We Love" selection and was featured in a jaw-dropping photo spread. Not to mention she has a movie in theaters next month. Seems like a no-brainer.
Sofia Vergara – The multi-award, multi-nominated Colombia bombshell consistently ranks at the top of these "sexiest women" polls and yet, she hasn't captured the title from Esquire yet. You'll get to see Vergara in action soon as Machete Kills hits theaters this weekend.
Amber Heard – She squared off against Olivia Wilde in Esquire's 2012 Sexiest Woman Alive bracket. Though she lost to Wilde, Heard is certainly worth consideration of the title.
Eva Mendes – Though she's regularly regarded as one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood, Mendes is tired of being called the sexiest woman alive. That's probably fine considering she's snagged one of the sexiest men alive – Ryan Gosling.
Keira Knightley – A Brit hasn't been crowned Sexiest Woman Alive since Kate Beckinsale deservedly won it in 2009. Knightley's been around a while and she's got a mile-long resume of titles to her name. She also serves as the face for Chanel perfume.
Kate Mara – Mara may be a bit off the radar, but anyone who watched her performance on House of Cards will attest to the fact that she should be included into the list of potential nominees. And then, of course, there's always that shotgun scene from The Shooter.
Rachel McAdams – Is she too chick flick-y to be considered one of the sexiest women alive? There's plenty of gorgeous Canadian actresses (Elisha Cuthbert, Laura Vandervoort, Missy Peregrym, etc.) so why haven't any of them made the cover of Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive issue?
Anna Kendrick – She sings, she dances, she acts, she's quirky. What more could you possibly want?
Beyonce – Though the title of Sexiest Woman Alive might go against Queen B's "girl power" mantra, she's still a feminine force to be reckoned with. Though she doesn't act as frequently as she did in the 2000s, here's hoping Mrs. Carter returns to the big screen soon (once the babies are a bit more grown up, of course).
Megan Fox – It seems like an anomaly that Megan Fox has not been crowned Sexiest Woman Alive during the eight years Esquire has been crowning beauties. I mean, what else do you remember from those first two Transformers movies besides explosions, Optimus Prime's awesome voice and Shia LaBeouf panicking?
Emma Watson – She may have not been chosen by Esquire, but Empire magazine named her the Sexiest Actress of 2013. They also chose Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sexiest Actor of 2013, much to social media and Sherlock fan's delight.
Emilia Clarke – The Mother of Dragons may be best known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen on HBO's Game of Thrones, but her film career is gradually gaining steam. If you're looking to sell copies of your magazine, it seems to make sense to tap into that loyal and fervent Thrones fan base.
Zoe Saldana – If you're a fanboy, chances are you've seen a lot of Saldana over the past few years. Star Trek, Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy… this is one hottie that keeps on working and that's totally fine with us.
Salma Hayek – Before the majority of the names on this list, there was Salma Hayek. She was one of the sexiest women alive during the '90s and 2000s. Closing in on 50 in a few years, she still looks phenomenal.
Olivia Wilde – I don't think Wilde will mind much that she hasn't been given the Sexiest Woman Alive honor from Esquire. After all, she's earned that title from Maxim, FHM and fanboys worldwide.
Roselyn Sanchez – If you really needed a reason for a fourth Rush Hour movie, Sanchez is it. Yeah, sure the banter between Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker is entertaining but honestly, we'd really like another look at her badge.
Lacey Chabert – She couldn't make "fetch" happen in Mean Girls, but Chabert could certainly wind up on Esquire's cover one day. If you doubt her hotness, she's featured in the current issue of Maxim magazine.

Don't know half of the women. It doesn't matter what they pick I know (besides my gf) who the sexist woman is alive and that is Aubrey Plaza. I don't need someone else telling me who is attractive or not.
