Now that he's done filming Only God Forgives, a collaboration with Drive director Nicholas Winding Refn, Ryan Gosling has some time to start plotting his directorial debut.
Gosling has enlisted Drive co-star Christina Hendricks to play the lead role in the film How to Catch a Monster, based on a script he wrote.
A press release sent out today states that sales for the film will begin at the Toronto Film Festival and notes that Drive producer Marc Platt is one of the men producing the film. Here's a brief snippet explaining the synopsis:
"Written and directed by Ryan Gosling, HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER weaves elements of fantasy noir, and suspense into a modern day fairytale. Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive."
The film is set to shoot in spring 2013 which means that the announced remake of Logan's Run, which will reunite Gosling once again with Refn, will most likely shoot after Monster has finished filming.

Ryan Gosling, Christina Hendricks
Sounds haunting and mysterious to me congrates to the young Actor Gosling on his Directorial debut with his new film "How to Catch a Monster" w/the talented Actress Christina Hendricks: I liked her alot too in DRIVE (thank goodness his character didn't hurt her). I hope they both will reprise if there's an Drive II movie: plus the girl that was almost his girlfriend and this time his name will be revealed instead of him always being known as the Driver. Awesome, movie Drive as well as Notebook (I think that's the title/with Actress Rachel Adams)...'that was awesome, too.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
