Citing downtime in his schedule due to the postponement of Paradise Lost, Cosmic Book News is reporting a rumor that's sending shockwaves through the fanboy community, stating that Bradley Cooper is set for a cameo appearance as Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Warner Bros. has neither, confirmed or denied this rumor as of yet.
Bradley Cooper, Man of Steel
I totally agree with all of the previous statements! Cooper is talented, but I agree with lemonie93!!! Should he do it? No! But who to cast as Lex Luthor? That is one of the most iconic and genius bad guys who is also not your typical bad-guy! And he is the perfect foil for Superman! I kinda prefer Lex, especially when portrayed by Rosenbaum, to Superman!
They weren't "grudging high school buddies" in Smallville. Clark was in high school when they met but Lex was about 14 years older. As Darkstardom said, I really think Rosenbaum would be a good choice (looked fine in the Smallville finale). One of my favorite episodes of that show was when the evil and the good sides of Lex were separated and the evil Lex immediately assumed the role he has in the comics: intimidating, brilliant, and totally bad-ass. That said I'm sure there are other good choices, just not Bradley Cooper. One more thing, as much as I loved Superman The Movie in spite of its campy atmosphere, treating Luthor and gang like the 3 stooges with one smart member never felt right for me. I hope future portrayals are more serious.
I'm not sure how Michael Rosenbaum is looking these days but i have been watching smallville since the beginning I'm not sure i could see anyone else but him playing Lex Luthor...unless they get the same actor from the last superman movie he was a very good Luthor in my opinion.
I think Bradley Cooper is a fantastic actor. Could he do it? Yes. Should he do it? No. It is not a abundantly clear casting choice. I feel that many of the choices this director has made are very narrow and short sighted for the Principle characters.
I like Cooper as well, but I would never pick him out of 50 actors to play Lex Luthor.
i think picking out lex luthor is going to be tough and if brad cooper takes it good for him, as some agree kevin spacey was a good lex in my opinion but he was no gene hackman. if they r smart they will find someone who would be ideal for the role and superman without lex is not superman hopefully will see what nolan and company ahve in store for lex some say the fellow from fringe is a good choice for me its hard to say only time will progress so may the hunt for lex luther arise and may he be a good candidate. but overall would ratrher have a different actor for role that is needed in the new superman franchise, good hunting nolan and team for lex luther
Fellow from Fringe? You mean Joshua Jackson?
He can flash-mob the Man of Steel!
Hey, does Howie Mandel have any acting credits?? Bald, semi-young looking...why not?! ;)
I would have to agree with the previous posts. As much as I like Cooper as an actor, I can't see Lex as a "pretty boy". Just does not fit the character. No, Jean-Luc, a.k.a. Patrick Stweart, is too old to play that role. If the idea is to have him WAY older than Clark - maybe Bruce Willis. I'm thinking someone between these 2 actors would be ideal. I just can think of someone at this time that would fit the Lex character.
I can't really see Cooper doing a bald look, no way.
absolutely not, his facial features are just wrong for the role not to mention the build... there have been many to play Lex Luthor over the last 30-40 years but Definitly not him...try getting the guy that played in the 90's and early last decade series that Dean Cain was involved in...or even maybe asking the guy that played Jen Luc Picard on startrek for the role..
I'm sure how I feel about this. I like Cooper, but I can't really see him as Luther. ^_^
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
