It’s the start of what could be a record-setting month at the movies. Not only do we get the carry-over of a third Transformers film (it opened June 29, hence the reason it's not included in the poll), a highly anticipated Cowboys & Aliens movie and the latest Marvel superhero flick Captain America, but then there’s that mega-event on July 15 when Harry Potter premieres on screens for the final time. Add to that, movies starring Tom Hanks, Kevin James, Justin Timberlake, Mila Kunis, Steve Carrell as well as a new Winnie the Pooh movie and a Smurfs CGI 3D feature and we could be well on our way to breaking the $1.3 billion mark set last year.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Captain America, Cowboys and Aliens, Smurfs, Horrible Bosses, Friends With Benefits, Crazy Stupid Love
im a bit excited about all 3 ..not so much for HP but for Capt American AND Cowboys & Aliens..just seeing the trailer for Cowboys & Aliens ...just wOw
I'm split between Captain America and Cowboys and Aliens.
I gotta go with Captain America here not because I am not excited by HP 7.5 but I already know how that story ends. With Cap I really don't know what storyline they are taking so I am more excited to find that out.
I don't think this poll is unfair! Cap American, Cowboys and Indians, and Harry Potter are all on my #1 list to see this Summer. However, I will go w/ Harry Potter. The books transported us into his world from a boy to a young man. Now its time to see Harry fulfill his destiny(corny*snort*). I can't wait!
My top 3 are HP, Captain America, and Cowboys and Aliens
min is harry potter, winne the pooh, and the smurfs.
Looking forward to Deathly Hallows part 2 but not for the reason other people want to see it for I want to see it for the fact that the new batman teaser is going to debut in front of it lol.
What really??? That will make seeing the movie a LOT better haha
instead of paying money to see crap, why dont you watch it on youtube? I can gurantee, it will be on there on July 15th
Well for the people that do wanna see the movie (including me), i think it'd be better seeing it on the big screen
Out of this list "Winnie the Pooh" is the only one I can vote for. The rest are all not very special. I would of Voted for "The Devil's Double" since that was going to come out in Jully but I guess that was pushed to August. That is easily my most anticipated Summer Blockbuster.
The Devils double doesn't come across as a "Blaokbuster" when none of the actor's are known and there doesnt appear to be much marketing, appears to me as more of an Indie film.
Well its easily the Biggest movie in scope and excitement from my point of view. Its huge for me. And how is the main actor not a Known actor?? He is going to be in Captain America and was in An Education. He's well known.
I've never even heard of devils double, and I'm pretty well read into movies, so me not knowing about this surprises me. what is that? and btw, if ppl havent heard of it, it may be a good, even great movie, but the term, "Blockbuster" does not apply.
That's what I as explaining to him.I knew I was not the only one. :)
Who are you two to tell someone what or what isn't a Blockbuster to them? What gives you the right to dictate someone else’s perspective? You two must live some very narrow minded worlds to not see words more than just what Webster crams down your throats. The world is a bit (sarcastically minimizing the scope of the world for emphasis) larger than that.
What you are trying to say is a "Blockbuster" to you is not what it is to most other people. Just because you are excited to see a movie doesn't make it a blockbuster. A blockbuster is usually a movie that makes a lot of money in theaters across the country.
exactly what I was trying to put into perspective.
NassaDane is right, it will be a Blockbuster if it's not already. Slumdog Millionaire was a huge blockbuster and nobody in that movie had done acting before aside from the interrogator. Just because it's not an American movie or is highly anticipated by a well known audience doesn't mean it's not a blockbuster. You'll be surprised at how many people are waiting for Devil's Double, it's got a HUGE underground audience just waiting for it's release. I know I'll be there opening day.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
