If there ever was a weekend to take in a movie, this is it. There's literally something for everyone in theaters beginning this Friday, with tween pics like Bandslam, romantic dramas like The Time Traveler's Wife, raunchy comedies like The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, animation for the kiddies like Ponyo and my personal pic of the week: the imaginative, low-budgeted sci-fi flick District 9.
Produced by Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) and directed by the talented up-and-comer Neill Blomkamp (in his debut), District 9 won't revolutionize the genre, but it's a small, intelligent movie with big ideas and lots of eye candy. If Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was this summer's unsatisfying all-you-can-eat buffet, then District 9 is the special dinner you save up for once or twice a year. It's the kind best paired with a delicious glass of wine as the flavor of the food literally explodes in your mouth with each bite.
Pic of the Week
I for one am ashamed i spent my 8.50 to see such a movie. when i first saw the trailer i was like hey this seems like a cool movie. when i got to the theater i paid to go in with my buddies sat down and the movie began. first off i was not at all sure what was going on with all the interviews but i thought ok ride it out. then i find myself sitting there riding it out through the whole film hands down it sucked plot line was crap how was he infected by the stuff or what it never really explains. all and all this movie sucked and if i could have gottena a refund i would have i definaletly do not recomend you seeing this movie ever not even on dvd so boycott this crappy film. it is worse than the blair witch project.
