When the first teaser trailer for The Master dropped a couple months ago, we didn't see a single second of Philip Seymour Hoffman, who stars in the title role as cool, calm cult leader. Instead, the focus was on Joaquin Phoenix, who plays a man who comes from a troubled background and falls for Hoffman's character and eventually becomes his right-hand man.
Now a longer trailer has arrived and we finally get our first look at Hoffman, who delivers a mesmerizing batch of dialogue while Jonny Greenwood's minimalistic percussive score plays in the background. We also get a brief look at Amy Adams as the Master's wife.
There's a lot to be excited about as this film nears its October 12 release. The film seems ripe to reap a bunch of award nominations. For now, check out the new trailer below.
