Tom Hiddleston spoke with MTV and updated the current status of Thor 2, which is due in theaters July 26, 2013. Hiddleston said that a director is currently not attached to the sequel but that Game of Thrones director Brian Kirk’s name was mentioned as a potential candidate. Thor 2 is expected to begin filming next spring.
Superman, Zack Snyder, Henry Cavill, Man of Steel
After I got over the "new look", I cold not help but be really impressed with the man in the suit. This is the first actor to play the role who truly, physically looks like Superman! Too bad he's not wearing a true Superman suit. I thought that Bryan Singer's basic idea on updating the costume--or, making it look less cartoonish, or like something at a costume party, and have it still look like Superman--was good one: darken the colors A LITTLE. The problem was that they went TOO dark with the red. I think a combination of a bit more moderation in this approach and being more moderate with what I see here, would have been great. I think. the "armored look" is fine; but the red trunks are missed.
Wow, Ok. The new suit has to go. the upgrade in Superman Returns was great I totally bought into it. It seems like they are trying to over compensate for a weekness in the plot or the action. We should still be using the Brandon and adding more grit to that Superman character, notthis about face looking like a generic XMEN character. Superman is the light, powered by the sun not the night. He is not Batman. If the directors want a darker Superman darken the story and add more depth to Superman not the costume. Here is a thought ...Lets try the Doomsday or Darkside villians.
"Built-in veins"...REALLY!?!?! Whoever said that is HILARIOUS. Those are his arms, buddy. If you look at the pics, the veins move around depending on how he's flexing. The dude bulked up unbelievably for the role. Wow, people will think of ANYTHING to ***** about.
To the person who said it needs a cape...it HAS a cape!! Can you NOT see that in the first pic? He doesn't need red underwear on top of his pants...that's stupid and always was. The suit needed to be updated with the times. The movie is being written by the writers of Batman Begins, TDK & TDKR. Visually, it's going to be amazing due to Zach Snyder! To the person who said this should be about his son since Superman already "returned"...this movie has NOTHING to do with the last movie. It's a total REBOOT of the franchise (just like Batman Begins), as it should be. Can't wait! Back in the day, they didn't have the technology to make a good suit so they ended up with stretchy pants and underwear on top. This suit is more realistic.
I am a huge Superman fan and this outfit looks cheap. And it's too dark; it should be more blue - lighter in a way. It's like a smack in th face when they should be aiming for the ass. Tsk tsk. Shame
Perhaps it's the lighting in part, but the thing looks cheap, chintzy and artificial. I'm old-school. I think the trunk and tights are part of what makes the character work and rubbery-looking neoprene with built-in veins is *not* an improvement on the original.
Did not read any comments sorry. I just have to say that this is such a disservice to Superman. It looks ridiculous!!! I swear do they even use the source material anymore and how do these comic book companies let this crap happen.
Just like the xmen movie. Oh lets change everything. Screw the decades of content we created and somebody put wings on that stripper. Yeah that’s it…NOT.
I am going to throw up at this horrible trend happening in comic book movies. I hope they fail so maybe they will listen to fans and lifetime supporters in the future.
I was introduced at my wedding with the Superman theme song so yeah I am a huge fan. They probably won’t even use it for this movie which is a dam shame. It is easily one of John Williams’s best.
costume ok but he is way to bulky and it's not the real thing with out the curl from his hair
I think it looks great! The old suit needed an update.
Yup. If it's not broke don't fix it! Kind of like the new costume except needs briefs and belt. Otherwise looks like a superman except for the Spiderman cloth as mentioned earlier.
friggin lame... are they looking to get young girls excited ? stupid, stupid, stupid. its gonna take focus away from what movie could be !
Actor looks great, but I like the original colors better of the suit.
I've been reading and cheering Superman and Clark Kent for 53 years now. This look stinks---even worse than the new DC 52 look. The blue is bleached out---there's no yellow at all, and the big red "S" is just ugly. His crotch sticks out more than the "S." Sometimes it's better NOT to fix things that are not broken to begin with; usually the "new" and "improved" product is neither, like now. By the by, the Elvis hairdo looks ridiculous as well. IF DC movie brains REALLY wanted to make money and please its fan-based audience, they would put together a World's Finest Batman/Superman movie or a Justice League film as rumored...
I've read and cheered for Superman and Clark for 53 years. This costume is just plain ugly and unacceptable. The red doesn't jump out and the yellow is washed out. Even the new 52 DC costume is an improvement over this! And that's not saying much. Sometimes fixing what was never broken in the first place is a poor decision. Most "new" and "improved" products aren't. This mess proves that. If DC was really serious about making money AND pleasing fan-based audiences, they would make a World's Finest Batman/Superman movie or a Justice League film. And don't let the critics pan of Green Lantern deter. It was just fine.
though i miss the classic version, i like the new costume well enough- esp with all the new designs coming out on most of the major dc comics characters starting this month. the comic book version sux- this movie version is better...
As a female comic nerd i am hopelessly disappointed in the "imagineer-ing" of the new "sup" I am a 30 something mom and facepainter so i see super fans of all ages all the time kids want to be the iconic superman curl in the forehead and blue, yellow, red,, and all american .
This new "superman" looks like a new franchising tool got get the new superman for the kid demographic... what a load of crap!!!
We depend on sup being wholesome ( yes flawed) however he is loved for a tender heart and a hard fist for justice.. this new guy looks like a "parallel universe" sup. He wouldn't stand out in a line of modern day hero's, he would be lost behind Spidey, with his coloring and aqua man with his textured latex suit ... blah!
The have messed it all up... This is NOT Superman!!
This is SUPERMAN! Go to your local comics shop and see for yourself. DC Comics is giving us the chance to discover SUPERMAN all over again...
The reboot is terrible. Changing his outfit from something timeless to an update. What's more pathetic is they're doing it just because the family of the original creators are suing DC. I hate this outfit
First off, Superman is a comic book character, not a real person. The problem with Hollywood is that they try to turn Superman into a real person and, to me, this is the earmark of a bad director. A good movie is supposed to suck the audience into the fantasy, not suck the fantasy into real life, after all, when was the last time any of us talked to areal-life Kryptonian? Even Star Wars gave us things beyond our human understanding (how does a light sabre work in real world physics?) His costume is supposed to be a bright symbol for the people, not some dingy representation of a gray and dismal world. Yeah, times and fashions change, but Superman's costume is meant to be eternal and iconic. Give him back the original spandex & the 'S' curl
New Superman costume looks almost reptilian. Put briefs back on to cover junk....Superman is a a hero for families.
hopefully, the producers will read these outraged comments and have the decency to CG some red briefs on before the release date! WHY must hollywood **** with something tried and true? if they HAD to do something different or "darker" why not the suit that Alex Ross draws in Kingdom Come? it's still very true to Superman's classic look, but is slightly edgier. i'd take that over this awful mess any day. :(
at first glance, i thought the suit looked okay, from the Sternum up...but then i clicked on the image and saw the full version. NOT a fan. i don't like the scales. i definitely don't like the silver cuffs and design on the sides, the lack of belt and the red "briefs" that kind of added a balance to the suit. it seems empty in the middle now--replaced only by Superman's "junk." it's lame to try to tie in the look with Superman's comic book re-vamp, since this suit he's going to be wearing in the comic now will Not be around for years to come. comics are notorious for re-boots, and one thing is certain: they always revert to the original look of their heroes. hope they get it right when the inevitable sequel or worse, Re-re-boot happens.
Henry Cavill as Superman? That's embarrassing for Warner bros, legendary, and Dc comics to do that, You @#!#$#heads
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
