Filmmakers behind one of the most highly anticipated movies of the 2013 summer movie season just released a cryptic, distorted viral video featuring an attack on San Francisco. The destruction comes at the monstrous feet of a kaiju (Japanese for "strange beast") that cuts a three-mile-wide path of chaos through the Golden Gate city.
Directed by Guillermo del Toro, this is the first footage we've seen since the lavish Comic-Con presentation for Pacific Rim.
The film centers on an alien attack that threatens the world's population. Giant robots piloted by humans are deployed to fight off these monstrous beasts. Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi star in the sci-fi action adventure.
We're sure to see plenty more teaser footage as we near the July 12, 2013 release date, but for now, check out the latest clip below. Did this movie just jump onto your must-see movies list for next year?

Instead of an over-the-top demo real for Playstation IV masquerading as a movie, we'll get all that with a camera view that shakes! The creative juices are really flowing now.
Looks like the same style as Cloverfield.
If the entire film is like this clip, I'llk sue the studip for giving me a head ache for seeing this shaky crap.
Intriqueing lets hope the World seriously don't come to such perils. This is my Birth home City by the Bay San Francisco.
I can't wait for the first trailer on The Hobbit!
The Tax Monster struck CA, first!
I really hope this isn't an actual clip from the movie. Wayyyy to shaky and chopped apart....could've been done in a much better form.
I doubt it. It seems like WB is borrowing from Fox's Prometheus viral clip playbook. I'm sure there's going to be plenty more of these cities under attack type clips over the next eight months.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
