'Mission Impossible 4', 'Men in Black 3' Nab Release Dates

By: Erik Davis on May 7, 2010 at 8:18PM Comments (15)

Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 3The release dates of two more sequels have finally been revealed, proving each is indeed real and heading to a theater near you soon. Originally set to come out Memorial Day 2011, Mission Impossible 4 has been pushed back to December 16, 2011.

Some argue Paramount made the move to make room for J.J. Abrams' Super 8, also due out next summer, though it might be tough for a film shooting in the fall to be in the can and ready for consumption by Memorial Day. We know Abrams moves fast, but can he move that fast? In addition to the release date, Tom Cruise also confirmed that Brad Bird (The Incredibles) is going to direct, making this the first live-action film for the Pixar director.

Also, Men in Black III has grabbed a release date of May 25th, 2012. An official press release confirms Will Smith is set to return, and that Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin are in advanced negotiations to co-star alongside Smith. The film will be shot in 3D (which we expected), and Barry Sonnenfeld will return behind the camera. The plot, unfortunately, is being kept under wraps.

Which sequel are you looking forward to most: Mission Impossible 4 or Men in Black 3?

both MI4 and men in black 3 sound awesome cant wait! i think its stupid as hell that super 8 might have been what pushed mission impossible back further because id much rather see MI4 than Super 8 (which i probably wont see because in my honest opinion it looks stupid to me)

I'm torn between both these movie ideas. I thought the first two Men In Black filmis were descent, a third is something I definetly would rush out to see in the theaters. As far as Mission Impossible 4 I'm just not a Tom Cruise fan I don't know why I just don't dig his movies. I did like the Mission Impossible movies, but a fourth seems a little over the top, bottom line is I would wait for both to be release on DVD and even then would rush to the stores to buy or rent them.

J.J. Abrams helmed MI:3, the only one in the series to recreate the things that made the original TV show so appealing. If he's not going to be along for 4, it will probably be a write-off. And what's this about Super 8? Why isn't Abrams hard at work on the next installment of his rebooted Star Trek? I'll put my money on MIB3.

I have to agree MMSUNDES why isn't he working on another installment of Star Trek, the first one was a great movie way better than I thought it would be and I'm not even a Star Trek fan. This Super 8 movie, which were not even sure if its the name of the film the only reason it is being called that is because its filled with a Super 8MM which was mostly used in the 70's. I do have to admit nothing beats the sound of a Super 8MM and the "look and feel" of the grain is outstanding, but not trying to go off track the whole concept of this Super 8 movie doesn't appeal to me at all. Some people catch a glimpse of a creature on thier Super 8 camera and that is pretty much the synopsis of the movie so far sorry just not for me.

Okay just heard news about them releasing another installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, called Fast and Furious Fast Five. Pretty much the synopsis of the story is the same Vin Diesel being chased by the government. Paul Walker and Vin Diesel once again return in this 5th installment of the Fast and Furious movies, along with Dwayne Johnson or as some of you know him as "The Rock" who will playing some legendary lawman set out to hunt them down. No word if Paul Walker is playing an agent or fugitive in this 5th installment, but in all honestly lets face it in the real world they would have him locked up he only betrayed the government in every other movie. In my opinion this is ridiculous to make another Fast and Furious.

If MI:4 is like the first MI, then I'll be thrilled. I'm not holding my breath though. MI:3 was way better than 2, but it didn't really match the atmosphere I loved about the first one.
