Michael Bay Posts New Statement About 'Ninja Turtles'

If you thought the turmoil and controversy regarding the Michael Bay produced, Jonathan Liebesman directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot had died down for now, think again.

Yesterday, rumors swirled that the turtles would no longer be teenagers and that the title had been shortened to Ninja Turtles. Early this morning, and by early we mean 1 a.m., Bay took to Shoot for the Edit to not only confirm the title change, but also attempt to explain it.
 
"Paramount marketing changed the name. They made the title simple. The characters you all remember are exactly the same, and yes they still act like teenagers. Everything you remember, why you liked the characters, is in the movie. This script is being developed by two very smart writers, with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles. They care VERY MUCH about making this film for the fans. Everyone on this team cares about the fans. Just give them a chance. Jonathan the director, is a major fan of the whole franchise. HE'S NOT GOING TO LET YOU DOWN. – MICHAEL"
 
So are you content with this explanation? Can we put the TMNT, er, Ninja Turtle nitpicking to rest until the movie hits theaters next year or are you still not convinced Bay and Liebesman can pull this reboot off?

    It's explain quite clearly above with much care & respects to the origionality of the TMNT whom are in fact NINJA TURTLES. Each Classic Ninja Turtle characteristics of Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo and Raphael strong personalities & teenage youth remains. Looking forward to this very adventureous Saga on them that Directer John Liebesman and Producer Micheal Bay have in store for the famous and much beloved Ninja Turtles.

    If anyone thinks this is a bad idea I'd say don't go to it. By protesting Bay movies we can show we can't stand his stuff. Anyone who pays to see it just to see what it's like is only supporting him.
