'Machete' Sequel Will Begin Filming in April

As promised in the end credits of Machete and during Robert Rodriguez's Comic-Con panel last year, Machete is returning to theaters.

Deadline reports that Rodriguez and producer Alexander Rodnyansky are teaming up to bring Machete Kills to the big screen. Filming is set to begin in April with a script from Kyle Ward (Kane & Lynch).

Rodriguez says this sequel will be a "bigger, more ambitious story" in which Machete is hired by the U.S. government to head into Mexico to take down a cartel leader and madman billionaire who are planning to launch a weapon into space.

No word yet on whether Rodriguez will direct or take on a producer role, but either way, he's very much involved. Obviously Danny Trejo will be back along with surviving cast members likely to reprise their roles.

While the film wasn't necessarily a blockbuster, it did manage to bring in $40 million against a $10 million budget. The film was also packed with random cameos so we'll see what Rodriguez can pull off this time, and let's not forget, the end credits also promised a third Machete movie – Machete Kills Again.

But first, are you up for another ride with Machete and who do you hope to see make cameos in this sequel?

Machete sequels will be sooo EPIC!!! All us cool kids want Machete to have like 4 sequels. Justin Bieber should make a cameo appearance, right before Machete slits his stomach and we see Bieber's intestines spill out on a hill, and as the intestines roll down the hill it spells out the title of the film, "Machete Kills!"
