Following a preview snippet which landed online earlier this week, we now get the full version of Adele's theme song to the upcoming James Bond movie Skyfall.
Tonally, the song certainly takes us back to the old school Bond movies and it'll be interesting to see what kind of graphics appear during the opening credits.
The studio version of the song will be available for purchase over on iTunes tonight.
Adele admitted in a statement that, "I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressue when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and (co-writer) Paul Epworth had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end."
You'll notice the strings section immediately in the song to which Adele said, "When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I'll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day, I'm sure!"
The song was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London with the lush accompaniment of a 77 piece orchestra.
Skyfall arrives in theaters November 9. We've included the audio version below along with the YouTube video version which includes the lyrics appearing over a James Bond-esque background.

underwhelming? as in NOT BLASTING CRAP IN YOUR FACE underwhelming. How about 'lush', or 'sweeping' or ' powerfully understated'. This is the Bond theme I was hoping to hear again someday. FANTASTIC! Hooray for Adele. She will forever be rememberted as a Bond girl now (Shirley Bassey, and the rest)
Us older folk know what is going on just as well as you younger guys.
pretty underwhelming, like this movie will probably be
I'll wait. I'd like to see this song with the whole intro graphics that are always fun. That combination is just special and I don't want to take away from it by listening to it early. I am a little hesitant since I've never heard of Adele until this. Hope it's good.
You've never heard of Adele?! Where have you been last year? "Rolling in the Deep" was everywhere.
Wow you don't know Adele? What are you 70 or 80 years old?
I'm 20 something not 70 or 80.
You know I was joking right?
I knew it was an exaggerated question but I wouldn't go as far to say I knew you were joking exactly.
Dude, I would never say you were 70 or 80 because if you did you probably wouldn't know what the heck Fandango is. But its ok, look up Adele sometime and listen to her songs. Their pretty good.
I mean I did.
Really, you guys think you're so much better because you're young. I'm almost 70 and actually know who Adele is and subscribe to Fandango. Youth is only a temporary condition--prepare yourself to get older and wiser (well, okay, maybe not you but most people).
movie lover plus four
Actually James Bond is from our generation, not yours.
A perfect response :-)
What makes you think that people in their 70's do not know good music and love Adele? At least you can understand what she is saying and doesn't need to cuss to get her song across. We also know how to use Fandango!
Nailed it. It takes you back to days of early Bond as terms of the tone and the texture of the song. Adele lived up to the standard for sure.
Agreed! Im probably going to stay for the credits of Skyfall just to hear the music!
TOTALLY Agreeeeeeeeeee... WOW WOW WOW.. Adele is such an amazing Artist..i will Definitely stay for credits to roll, Beautiful song, by a Beautiful Artist
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
