In the ever-evolving world of Kevin Smith, who knows how much you can buy into his words. His long-delayed hockey movie, Hit Somebody has undergone quite the metamorphosis throughout the year.
Smith had said that the film would be the last film he would direct. He then decided to split it into two movies because the story was so extensive, then recently decided to make it one movie again before changing his mind again and hinting that it could morph into a TV mini-series. He has since confirmed that Hit Somebody is now a mini-series.
While we stand-by to see what happens next with Hit Somebody, it might not be Smith's final movie after all.
The director tweeted, "So with the HIT SOMEBODY shift, the minute Jeff Anderson signs on, my last cinematic effort as a writer/director will be CLERKS III."
So what's the reasoning behind one more movie from Smith? He dives into semantics, saying that technically Hit Somebody is not a movie, but a mini-series, leaving room for "a new final flick before I retire from directing feature films."
Who knows, when or if Anderson will ever sign on to do a third Clerks movie, but as we've seen in the past, Smith certainly knows how to prolong his brand.
Would you be interested in seeing a third Clerks movie? Should Smith continue to direct films or fade away into the expanding world of podcasts and executive producing TV series?
