Taylor Kitsch, Garrett Hedlund, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire
The Hunger Games
Alex Pettyfer, Garret Hedlund, and Armie Hammer should be the short list of knowns for this role. They could also find an amazing unknown, that worked well with the Hunger Games. Also, where is this Zac Efron coming from? I have yet to see him attempt anything as meaty as Finnick and honestly doubt he could do the heavy lifting.
I wish they could have Andrew Garfield as a choice. I imagined him as Finnick throughout the books.
Are you kidding me? Andrew Garfield is too skittish to play Finnick. He would be gone in the initial melee. Finnick is a champion.
i'd probably say zac effron or the guy from john carter
I'd say Armie Hammer. He's a good fit. The other two look too young.
He's the youngest of the three actors.
1. Garrett Hedlund
2. Taylor Kitsch
3. Armie Hammer
Garrett pulls off the handsome and charming aspect the best, but also has some emotional depth that would work for Finnick's scenes in both "Catching Fire" and "Mockingjay". Finnick is very important to both book 2 and 3 - don't let it be played by someone who can't bring both humour and dignity to the role.
I'm wondering who they are going to look at for Johanna Mason?
Ooh that's a good thought. She's just as important as Finnick.
How about Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones?
I have a soft spot for Garret Hedlund. But I think for this character, we should go with Armie Hammer. He's perfect for the role.
i think that kellan lutz would be perfect for finnick.im not too much on the three names listed above. i just dont believe they would bring to the character what is needed and what people expect from finnick. i have a few other actors in mind that would be a great finnick but kellan fits the part alot
Kellan Lutz is too much of a goof to play Finnick. I doubt he could sober up to bring the weight needed.
Def Armie Hammer, I have not liked Kitsche in any of the film roles I've seen, and he doesn't look right. Hedlund isn't a bad actor but doesn't embody the character. It seems absurd that anybody would consider the other two if Armie Hammer is in the running.
Kitsche has this thing where he acts in only bad movies.
So I'd prefer he didn't appear in Catching Fire and curse it.
Hedlund to me is the best actor out of the three hands down and was great in Tron: Legacy and Country Strong. Plus he would be great at portraying the other side of Finnick as well. I don't get the hype around Hammer, he's good but hasn't done anything special to get my attention.
Did you see "The Social Network"? He was amazing in that. He did a good job in "J. Edgar" as well.
I did see The Social Network and he was good, it just wasn't anything special to me. I haven't seen J. Edgar yet so maybe once I see that he'll change my mind about him. I am big fan of Hedlund though, and when I think about the character of Finnick as a whole, I feel that out of these choices he would make the best Finnick Odair. Finnick isn't just a witty good looking guy, he has a very heartbreaking side to him, and that's why I pick Hedlund. I'm not saying I wouldn't like Hammer as Finnick, but he's not the first pick for me. Hedlund was one of the first names that crossed through my mind before this article came out.
Garrett Hedlund is my first choice out of these three but I would also be happy with Armie Hammer playing the part. Can't go wrong with these two choices. But it's a definite no for Taylor Kitsch, I like him in some movies, John Carter being one of them, but not for this role.
I totally agree!
I think that Garrett Hedlund is PERFECT for the role of Finnick Odair. Armie Hammer looks to old and Taylor Kitsch just isn't right for Finnick but Garrett Hedlund is exactly how I pictured Finnick to look and sound like.
Hedlund looks older than Hammer, and his face is just too...odd.
Chris Hemsworth or Zac Efron
Hemsworth would make my head explode, but that's just too much to hope for.
No...not Zafron. I don't need him ruining it.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
