'The Hobbit' Full Trailer: Wizards and Dwarves and Gollum, Oh My!

As promised, Peter Jackson has delivered a new cut of The Hobbit trailer for An Unexpected Journey, the first chapter in his planned trilogy adapting the work of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Jackson told fans on his Facebook page that his contributions to the worldwide Tolkien week would include this longer teaser, which boasts a gaggle of dwarves during a merry gathering as Galdalf (Sir Ian McKellen) reveals Bilbo as his choice for a grand adventure. There are plenty of laughs in the clips, though we know things will get dicey from there, for sure. Check the full trailer out below.

Now the speculation can begin as to where in Tolkien’s slim story Jackson will choose to conclude his first Journey, setting the stage for parts two and three – titled The Desolation of Smaug and There and Back Again. The sequels reach theaters in 2013 and ’14, giving Hobbit fans plenty to look forward to as Jackson ventures back to Middle Earth and attempts to recreate the magic of his Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The adventure starts on Dec. 14, with 2D, 3D and IMAX presentations of Unexpected Journey. Which format will you choose? Mull it over, grab your tickets as soon as they go on sale, and enjoy the latest trailer from Jackson’s anticipated Hobbit film.

Another Jackson classic. Will be at the midnight premier. The cinematography looks dynamic as well as the special effects. Bilbo and Gollum together again. Those will be scenes worth watching. Bring it on!!

I can hardly wait! WHY can't we have the whole story in one movie! UGH... Well, Peter Jackson has done so very well with the Lord of he Rings - and this IS the seminal work that led to that epic trilogy, so I guess it deserves equal treatment. There is so much detail in the story, I'm sure it can easily take 3 movies to portray. This was an excellent trailer! Can't wait to see the movie! Yes, I will be there at midnight on the 14th to see this!
