Here Comes 'Clash of the Titans 2'

Though audiences seemed lukewarm when it came to the recent Clash of the Titans remake, a whopping $486 million (of which $325 million came from the international audience) at the box office means we're gonna get a sequel whether you like it or not. Plus, something tells me Warner Bros. will do it right this time, and film this sucker in 3D right from the get-go instead of sloppily converting the flick with only a couple months till release.

'Clash of the Titans'

What we know at this time is that Warner Bros. is currently meeting with a number of directors to see who will replace Louis Leterrier behind the camera after the filmmaker decided not to return for the sequel. As of now, Jonathan Liebesman seems like the frontrunner, which is a little odd since the guy comes from a horror background (he directed Darkness Falls and the 2006 Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel). According to the LA Times, though, he now wants to be an action director, and he already has a big alien invasion movie, titled Battle: Los Angeles, due next summer.

Sam Worthington is set to return, though the studio wants to get a move on and start filming in early 2011 because Worthington is also committed to shoot Avatar 2, which the LA Times says could begin filming as early as late 2011.

Are you looking forward to a Clash of the Titans sequel, or would you rather they just skip right to filming Avatar 2, like, tomorrow?

Well I love the original CLASH so much that i never saw the remake. After hearing that the 3D effects were shotty. i was glad i did not.. And honestly a sequel to a remake is just a weak move. this was the case with the Texas Chainsaw and Halloween remake franchises. I'll Take Avatar 2 over this clash 2 anyday. and actually Would Rather see the Abraham's Star Trek sequel more than both of them!

Clash of the Titans was an enjoyable, cooler remake to the original but that doesn't mean that it will be hailed as a classic as the original. It is simply something to sit back and get lost in the action. As far as a sequel goes where would they take the story and the characters? I imagine they will have a writer whip something out quickly that won't look good once we see it in theaters. The director Jonathan Liebesman hasn't made a really good (or decent enough) movie that will draw in lots of people. This could be a bad decsion Warner Bros. has made.

I'd like to see a sequel. I think all the elements are there for a great story. The remake of the original was pretty much stuck with the material that was already there. The film makers seemed to miss the fact that Clash of the Titans was a cult classic because of the cheesy material and performances. They tried to make a serious movie, so they only used the serious elements of the first film, which were slow. A sequel would give movie makers an opportunity to include a more interesting storyline and add in more of the humor that was present in the original. I'm really hopeful for a better sequel.

The problem is, its a sequel so it still has to follow the same bad movie storyline from the original. If you're going to do a remake the first one has to be good for the second to follow. Take The Dark Knight for example. It would not have been have been half the stellar sequel that it was without Batman Begins being such a solid script and good storyline. Sequels will always be garbage with a garbage beginning (i.e. Transformers 2)

You are right about sequels, but all of the storyline material from the original Clash of the Titans has been used. Now the writers will have to go into mythology to create a new, original story. There is so much rich material in Greek and Roman mythology.

I wish Hollywood would realize that not every cinematic venture requires a sequel.

What's with the rush to butcher another iconic film by turning it into a lackluster franchise? Studios don't even care what they put out anymore, which is why so many are failing. Clash of the Titans should have been considered a failure considering the substantial marketing costs that were incurred in the US and abroad, not to mention the poor timing of its release and poor 3-D quality. As far as the studio getting it right next time, there is little to no chance of that happening unless they find an amazing screenplay writer whose work isn't trashed in a committee. Clash of the Titans 2 should not be made. Sam Worthington has far better movies to make than this tripe.

Fine with that since Zoe Saldana wants to work on the Star Trek sequel first
